Come Next-Gen, An Xbox Fanboy Goes PlayStation

Ever since the original Xbox, I've bled black and green, swearing allegiance to Microsoft and its consoles. However, if the title isn't enough of a hint, put simply, things have changed.

It all started when Microsoft decided to ignore me, the core gamer, and instead focus on sports, tv, sports, tv, tv, tv... well, you get the picture. Then came the whole DRM issue, the always online connection and the privacy concerns surrounding the new Kinect. Not to mention the company's lack of transparency with their marketing, placing almost every heavily advertised feature behind a pay wall.

While the company has done a 180 on the issues that concerned gamers the most, personally, i just can't stand by Microsoft any longer. You see, it would be stupid of me to disagree with (and complain about) the company's practices, yet continue to support them by purchasing their product - I may as well shut up.

And so, my journey across to Sony has begun. A journey, of course, made easier by the fact that not only is the PlayStation 4 cheaper and apparently more powerful, but Sony held me, the core gamer, at the forefront of its mind when it launched and marketed the PS4.

Is there anyone else who is jumping ship? And do you agree or disagree with my opinions/thoughts?

Fakeboy? Spam? Hehe, I didn't get a PS3 until a couple of months ago for The Last of Us, otherwise all my gaming was done on an Xbox. Just wanted to get a feel if any other Xbox gamers are jumping ship, as most of my mates are still getting the Xbox One despite not liking what MS have done.

You'd have to be a fanboy to tolerate a subpar system so saturated in advertising budgets. Playstation is where the gamers play.SKaREO

For me it was more so the company's practices that turned me off the Xbox One. I mean, there's ways to do things, and then there's ways to do things, and unfortunately MS went about things the wrong way. I'm looking forward to my PS4. RichTheRookie

Sony has been a little fast and loose in the ethics department, and two scandals have tarred the company's image over the past few months. I apologize if some of this is old news to you, but I think it's worth alerting our readers to this kind of stuff.

C'mon man. I'm talking about now, the present. In the past, I wasn't playing a Sony console, I was playing Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox 360. The fact is MS forgot their who target audience was, if you can't see that then oh well, not much I can say. Furthermore, if Sony were to do the same thing between now and the launch of, say the PS5, I would be just as quick to criticize their wrong doings. RichTheRookie

if you think there is any other motivation for a multinational company you are naive.

had sony not gotten their asses kicked this gen they would be putting as little effort into next gen as they did the entire first half of this gen.

if it is microsofts turn to get their ass handed to them then good.

nobody changes for the better when they think they are on top and have no competition.

I'm not jumping anywhere. I'm going to jump into my comfy couch on Nov 22 and play both the PS4 and Xbox One exclusive games. I'm taking 2 days off that will be completely dedicated to NEXT GEN Gaming. :lol:
