comparing Pc to consoles is stupid

I've always wondered it. why compare Pc's to consoles? how can we compare a system that can be upgraded toset pieces of hardware?

The "I-built-a-new-gaming-rig-that-destroyes-any-consoles" is a puerile statement imo, maybe someone should compare a 2005 rig to the current consoles, now that'd be a fair comparison, wouldn't it?

if any of you pc gamers built a rig in 2005-2006, I don't think it is THAT superior to consoles and I really doubt that you can play most of the games at high, so the other void argument is that you don't need to upgrade your Pc every 3-4 years in order to keep up of the times. so imo "mocking" consolers cause they own "crippled Pc's" is a silly statement, as well as stating that pc gamers can't stand 30fps and 720p and that consoles' hardware is too weak. everyone knows why devs drop resolution and framerate, but in any case how many pc gamers can actually max all the games out with a 4-5 year old rig?

I understand that playing in front of a monitor, 720p doesn't look that good, but when sitting on a couch, at a fair distance from the Tv, you won't really notice the jaggies, unless you pay attention to them or get close to the Tv. And when it comes to framerate, 30 fps is fine for most of the games, so I never understood why some hermits come and say "I can't stand 30fps". Like in another topic someone posted screens of GTAIV on Pc that looked far better than the console versions, I mean really? back in 2007-2008 you needed a Nasa pc to play the effin game, not to mention all the hassle and performance issues.

when it comes to exclusives, Pc does have lots more of them than all consoles, but if you don't like the rts and mmo genre, you're skipping half of the whole exclusive list and another void argument is when Pc gamers state that they can even play 30 year old games and that that is not possible on a console or that they can emulate console games on their computer or *insert reason*.

i believe that games should be the most important factor in gaming and that pretty much everyone would gladly have a powerful Pc if they could, but saying that Pc gaming > console gaming is utter nonsense, because of the abovementioned reason, that is !games!

I have a rig from O6 and it's miles better than any console... I've only recently thought about upgrading to get into the whole DX11 game, which isn't even on consoles.

They play more or less the same games and go after the same sales, so I don't see what the problem is. It's like eliminating on of the world superpowers just because they update their military hardware to levels beyond the other ones.

direct comparisons are not possible since a PC is too different from a console, it has distinct advantages and disadvantages not present on a console. But your post is saying that PC cant count at all unless you stip away all of its advantages over the consoles.

Okay, I had a PC in 2005.

GPU was a nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX, which is similar to the PS3, but the PC card did more.

2 GB RAM compared to 256 MB.

XP SP3 which is way more versatile than any console OS - Microsoft does monthly updates, whereas the consoles' OS remains static.

Better sound due to a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS card.

Yes lets use the fact that you users can create their own content and expand on a game as a negative, even though the creative content is so expansive and ability to actually DEVELOP games of infinite value.

Be it modifications, experimetals and independant titles.

Launch GTX was 600 like a PS3, Ultra was 800 and a waste of money, however the GTX went down to 400 and remained the most powerful GPU for 13 months.
