Considering getting a PS3, but the constant bad news has me scared off

I really wish that the PS3 was a viable option for me. I would like to be able to play MGS4. However, the constant bad news I hear about the PS3 ever since 2005 has me scared away (like today's Haze floppage). It just never seems to stop. What do you guys think? I already have a 360.IDateWhiteChick

im in the same boat with u bud. i really want mgs4 but i dont want to drop $400 for a game. idk how KZ2 will turn out . but R2 is bound to be good so just those 2 are worthy of me getting a ps3

i dont know about R2 it seems ok but i am not sure how it will turn out after R1 which was ok. i really want MGS4 though it looks great

$500 is "scary," believe it or not. But MGS4 could be worth $560 (PS3 + $60 game) if it gets AAAA.

Despite the hate from cows, Halo 3 is great, and Crackdown provided some entertainment while waiting for GTAIV. See a pattern here?

All the threads Ive seen bumped today came from a few isolated people. If you knew the history of the few of them you would know that their opinions rarely reflect the opinion of the majority and no other PS3 fan jumped to their defense or actively dismissed their opinion. Their was a muted optimism for the game due to the team behind it, but it became apparent early on that this game was probably not going to be that special. Dont generalize and do some research first.

Lair, on the otherhand, was hyped way to much in retrospect but at the time PS3 fans were mislead by the media into hyping this game. If you remember, IGN a few weeks before the game released praised the game's controls, but when it was reviewed blasted it.

Both times expressed negative opinions of the games prior to release were often baseless and motivated by jealousy(as is the case for almost all PS3 exclusives), but ended up being right for reasons different than originally presented.
