Fact is that the absolute majority of game devs, I think around 70-80%, develop for the PC because it's the most profitable platform for them.

Go ahead and keep thinking that pirates are killing all these PC devs. Valve and Steam would like to have a word with you though.

Yeah 400-500 because I said BETTER settings. If you want the same settings, go ahead and downgrade, guess what? You can because its a PC. You have the freedom to build it and use it as you want.

And if you want to talk money:

You spend ~50 bucks a yr on xbox live. I don't know how many games you buy, let's say you only grab a few that you REALLY like, so 3 games a year, 180 bucks. This doesn't take into account if you pay for other services games etc.

So for online and those 3 games a year you are looking at 230 USD annually.

On PC, those 60 USD games range 40-50 each and online is free. So you would pay roughly 120-150 a year for that same material. So now owning the 360 as a substitute, you are bleeding 80-110 USD each year. I think that will make up the difference in cost pretty quickly.

I spend 0$ a year on Xbox live because I do not play online(split screen ftw try that on PC :P) really and who says I buy games full price?

Bioshock is the same price gamestop as it is steam and comes in physical media meaning it will allways be there. What if steam goes down btw... You wasted how much money??

As I've said before...for the foreseeable future, I'm sticking with consoles. I like the ease of use, plug and play. I'm not technically minded - and I don't want to read up on stuff just to make sure I'm making right purchases hardware wise, etc. I can't afford a prebuilt gaming PC, and I have no desire to build one myself - gamings a relaxation for me, like watching TV - I don't want any hassle.

That's not to say I don't recognise PC gaming, I've played games on it (Steam account - evil280 I think :P) but it's never gripped me like console gaming. I'd play a small bit of CS:S, then go play on XBL instead.

I like the console exclusives too - I like the big budget games with lots of hype, which ultimately - PC gaming seems to lack at the moment.

You know, he keeps going on about how I'm afraid of the PC, and how it must be hurting me to see the deals PC gamers are getting. To be honest, not really. I mean, good for you guys and all, but I'm not just feeling this agony that I'm supposedly in.

The fact of the matter is, neither side is going to agree with each other.

Console owners are very proud of their inferior gaming experience and that's ok.

If this guy is the spokesperson for pc gaming, then I feel sorry for you guys. PC gaming is not for everyone, I prefer consoles. I love the big budget console games, and can't stand strategy, mmos, sims, or flash games. If that is your cup of tea, then more power to you, but saying this guy owns consolites? Seriously? Speak for yourself. All my gamer friends have a PC and Steam, and the only ones who have consoles just have them for their kids. Yeah, I'm old. I seriously know about two dozen PC gamers IRL, and the handful of console gamers I know are all kids (under 21).

PC gamers do get the best deals, but not the best games. I can't play Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean 4, White Knight Chronicles, LittleBigPlanet, Modnation Racers, Metal Gear Solid 4, Skate 2, MLB10 the Show, Warhawk, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Dragonball Z Burst Limit, Sonic Unleashed, Killzone 2, InFamous, Uncharted or Uncharted 2 on my PC.

30s as well.the wife and ido part time work with classic gaming expo,purely restoration and resell.as far as gaming it is all pc.

my fulltime job(delta),the entire ticket counter,gate and alot of the ramp workers are all addicted to wow.over the past decade we have corrupted twa,fed ex,us air,northwest.it started mainly with ultima online,city of heroes,eq,etc.some of these people are 50+ and play 10 hours a day,every day.so i can't help but laugh at some of these posts about pc or pc gamers not being hardcore.

I agree with this man 100%, it was a very entertaining and TRUE video. This gen I bought a 360, ps3, and a gaming PC. The PC is superior in EVERY SINGLE WAY!! Heck I just purchased Left 4 dead 1 for 13.50 $!!!! That game sells for 30$ on the xbox 360. L4D2 is selling for 20$ while it is 49.99$ on the xbox. WHY is this?? He is right about 1 thing which is that PC gamers DO NOT bend over and we are NOT stupid. No pc gamer will pay for online gaming! NONE ZERO. We are smarter, We are better, WE are ELITE! Next gen if microsoft chargers for live I wont be getting the xbox. If sony doesnt have some crazy new features similar to blu ray I wont be getting a playstation. I will get a gaming PC and a nintendo system (for the exclusive nintendo games) and that is ALL.

My $600 PC has been $600 forever (since my last computer), but my friends $400 Xbox 360 also came with the cost of an expensive memory card, 3 extra $65 controllers, and the last 4 or so years of Xbox Live at $40 or so a year. Not to mention all the games that cost $10-$20 more.

Now that isn't to say he had to buy all that 360 junk, but the point is that comparatively speaking it's not like PC's nowadays are going to require you hand over one of your arms anymore than a console would require that same arm. Given the value of my PC (the fact that I can do all my school work, play most every game at 1080p resolution with AA, download music and vids, and do all these other things exclusive to PCs as of now) I'd say my $600 is well spent.

On a different note I'd say PC gaming is more something you ease into. I mean when I got my first PC I never gave up console gaming. I still haven't entirely, but I'm like 99% PC gaming now :P Every single one of my friends is the same, even the ones who have no jobs or don't have a lot of disposable income. None of them hopped into PC gaming by buying some $1000 system that maxes Crysis. A lot of them started with their cheap, store-bought systems that were capable of playing Civilization, or Dota, or something like that. Steam, and other places like GOG or D2D have TONS of games capable of being run on old systems as most indie devs find the PC to be the most lucrative platform for their business. It's not like being a PC gamer means having to have the highest tech gaming rig.

Somebody needs to go outside every now and then. Sheesh...he must have blisters on his hands...from playing games of course.

Treedoor speaks the truth. The whole you need a 1500-2000 dollar system to do PC gaming is a huge myth. You can build 600 dollar systems that will play anything a console can play and probably better too.
