I have played the game and I didn't like it one bit, it's just boring. No offense for the fans but that's how I found it :P
EDIT: I know I shouldn't have posted here TC but you know I got that urge to express my feelings :D

[QUOTE="clembo1990"][QUOTE="2-10-08"]I figure you play mainstream games.I play all kinds of games, from Tactics Ogre, to Katamari Damacy, to Ico, to Halo. And you know what? The mainstream games are most often the best ones. So Guitar Hero, Rockband, 50 Cent, Wii Fit, and Hannah Montana are the best games evar?I see it as some first person shooter on PC that PC fanboys want everyone to know about.
I figure that if was worth looking to I would have heard more about it from official sources.

[QUOTE="dgsag"][QUOTE="2-10-08"]Correction, you don't hear about it from American outlets because it's so "european" that a lot of them are alienated by it. QFT. The game can be brutal early on.Yeah....First time I played it, I got killed like 10 times during the first 30 minutes of playing.I see it as some first person shooter on PC that PC fanboys want everyone to know about.

The game is awesome, not to everyone's tastes but for me a very memorable experience. Just travelling the wastes is creepy enough but then when you finally arrive at some remote locations with weird 'things' running around and you have to go underground...some of the best 'goose-bump-stimulating' moments ever!
 "Offical sources", i guess you still belive there is WMD in Iraq :PI see it as some first person shooter on PC that PC fanboys want everyone to know about.

Can this game run on consoles?rcignoniSTALKER could be remade to work with consoles, potentially, but it's a type of gameplay that doesn't work well on a controller, and it's nothing like a typical console FPS. It's a game where you need to stop, aim, and take your time with your shot, use stealth, think about your position in relation to the enemy, et cetera - and the atmosphere is out of this world...
I know of it but I've no interest in it. On an inferior platform so it's not going to meet my standards. Sure they can port it but I doubt they'll be able to up the quality to something more fitting.
PC users might settle for it i certainly wont.

STALKER is amazing, and the only people that would badmouth it are console fanboys. It has such awesome atmosphere and the RPG/Open world gameplay is great as well.
edit: I remember the first time one of those invisible things came at me i probably almost **** my pants. :P

Its the sound aswell. When you're underground, wearing a good headset and you can hear faint noises in the depths, kind of like an irons gate being scaped along a concrete floor, dripping noises etc.
Also, you always feel vulnerable especially early on, you know you can die easily and so it makes going round each corner a very nervous experience.
Call me cynical but...I reckon that, if this game was on the PS3 it would be a game that other gamers "just dont get how good it is!". I know I'm projecting somewhat but this game would get soo much praise lol.
I would rent it if they made it for consoles, but I'm more intrested in Crysis TBHMcManus107Yuck, Crysis over Stalker. You're smoking. I've played both, and the experience you are going to get from Crysis is far more generic then the atmospheric world and unique gameplay in Stalker.
It will actually probably look and run better on the 360 seeing how it's original coding is for PC. :|i actually saw a freshmen with this game it looked pretty sweet but i didnt have a beefy coomputer then :( im sure itll look fantastic!...on the ps3

Yup. The winds when you're out in the open sound spot on as well. Try turning on a fan (for yourself) and playing the game and you'll feel like you're actually in the game!
and yeah, if this game was on consoles, consolers would definitely be amazed. There's no other game like it (well a few come close but this game is still very unique).

A game like this would not work well on consoles.

umm why? whats so special about this game that wont work on consoles? i think this game will work on consoles just like almost every other shooter and yes consoles can handle its graphics too.
i highly recommend it to console owners who want to try something different from the typical mainstream fps games that the market is saturated with.
its one of the most atmospheric games ive played, so bleak and desolate, and there are some very tense and genuinely frightening moments. its a true survival game but its hard, theres no hand holding, no tutorial, you have to work things out for yourself, but once you get used to how the game works and immersed in the atmosphere it really comes in to its own.
[QUOTE="RK-Mara"]The game definitely wouldn't work well with a standard LCD TV speakers. You either need a good set of headphones or a good surround sound system to fully appreciate the atmosphere.wayne_karlike with pretty much any game Sounds don't play as big of a role in every game.
Indeed! Not to mention that the aiming is crazy hard, and you REALLY have to save ammo or you are screwed.i highly recommend it to console owners who want to try something different from the typical mainstream fps games that the market is saturated with.

Obviosuly haven'y played it, the game as an inventory that has to be navigated QUIICKLY if you ever want to survire, there are more commands that buttons on any contoler for a start, there is 9 and 0 to switch firong modes, buttons to use a medpack/bandages/Antirad. Button to switch ammo types, button to activate night vision, fire, ironsights/scope not to mention flashlight and jump. It's just unfeaeable.STALKER requires lots of different buttons. I remember hearing you cant do certain stuff (Like crouching)if you play it with a 360 controller.
Hopefully if it comes to consoles it wouldn't be a buggy mess like the PC version.Jamex1987
There really isnt alot of bugs after you patch it.
I have a gaming PC and consoles but I haven't played Stalker. I just think it looks boring. I love the concept of being through a nuclear kind of thing and I loved Fallout but it's kind of boring if you don't witness the nuclear thing happening as it happens. If you only go through the aftermath it's blah.
I remember hearing some stuff in the gamespot review that turned me off to it, i don't remember what it was though. I used to always be interested in it but just never got around to trying it, the screenshots/vids don't really provide any meaningful reason to try it it just looks like another FPS to me. If someone can tell me why it's great i'd love to be persuaded to trying it lol.

Well, theres just so much about the game that i love. You might want to try to recall what turned you off.
The game is genuinely terrfying and keeps a sustained sense of psychological threat in a way which no other game seems able, it's all down to the atmostphere and the sound/ music really but the bloodsucker is pant wetting, they are invisible fast moving monsters that roar then try to swipe your face off. They can also take almost 2 clips of ammo. :|I have a gaming PC and consoles but I haven't played Stalker. I just think it looks boring. I just re-checked and it was the gametrailers review, i typed some stuff they said that made me not want to play it.Gametrailers "At one point we had realized we had aquired some information that needed to be returned to a particular area. But by the time we figured out where it needed to be taken we were already 5 virtual miles away and couldn't be bothered to go back. The lack of any sort of vehicle doesn't exactly help either"
If there's a system like Fallout 3 where it tells you where you need to go for things and you can just go then thats fine but if it's a guessing game thats ugh.
They also said the guns take forever to kill people, people don't die instantly with point blank range of a shotgun and other guns they just take the bullets and keep going which makes it frustrating.

Actually it totally does have the system of telling you where to go. I never got lost in this game. There are arrows pointing at your destinations and everything. Sure, theres a *minor spoilers dont read the bracketed parts* part near the end where you have to figure out a certain location, but that was easy as hell. (Im talking about Strlock's secret place btw where you meet the doctor) */spoilers*
And mods can give you vehicles if that means anything. The game totally doesnt need vehicles imo.
They also said the guns take forever to kill people, people don't die instantly with point blank range of a shotgun and other guns they just take the bullets and keep going which makes it frustrating.
Im not gonna bull**** you, butcombat is definitely more challenging that FPSs like CoD4 and Halo. This is a good thing for me. Yep, enemies got lots of health, hence forcing you to use head shots which are extremely rewarding (one hit kills in most cases). You need to dodge behind cover or you are gonna die, charging in head on is sucide. Like real life.
The guns feels and fires differently. You would be looking for more powerful weapons that suits you as the game progresses, as enemies gets stronger armour. I love the feel of the guns in this game, and there are tons of them. Would you like to take a scoped but weaker gun so you can aim for headshots easier, or a powerful rifle that tears through your enemies quickly? Or you can totally take both and switch them depending on the situation.
In a nutshell, your second complaint is more of an aquired taste. Once i got the hang of it, i loved it alot.

i found by far the most frustrating thing was the enemies ability to shoot you from 9 miles away.....in the dark. while you throw back handfuls of gravel.I am a pc gamer and haven't gotten it yet :( gotta pick it up soon. SAGE_OF_FIREI'm very disappointed of you!
