I'm a pc gamer - but got a 360 because I wanted a system to go with the new tv and wanted to give console gaming a go.
I was Unimpressed with Gears

gears is not the only game on the system....have you tried anything else?
I understand that you don't like the game, but if you are going to play cosole games and compare them to pc games then you shouldn't waste your time, sell the 360 and buy a whole bunch of pc games. everyone ends up happy!
I found Rainbow 6 Vegas much more my style. I also disliked how closed the levels are in gears. Vegas gives you much more room to roam. Maybe you should check it out.

Try either a halo game or rainbow six vegas. Once halo 3 launches you will see anyways how good console gaming CAN be. I was let down by gears too. The gameplay isn't great. Also you might need to get used to using a controller. It can be irritating at first.
everybody has a right to an opinion, console games are becoming a bit repetative, with few AAA titles, but it offers way more genres and its more comfortable, rather than having to be within two feet of a monitor.

Yes, and bioshock is a PC game. Yeah I knew that. I'll only buy it on PC if it's better though, and not buggy (HL2:EP1).

He is talking about how 70% of PC games seem to be RTS's.
Peoples opinions are totally objective, you found the movement restrictive and missed a traditional jump button. What I experenced was a context sensitive movement button that aided my ability to move around the levels to a great degree. I thought being able to hold the button down run, to cover, stick to it then tap the button to hurdle the cover and hold it down once again to run to the next bit of cover was a huge improvement over strafing from behind a tree ala Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or almost any other PC title out there, excluding the great system in Brothers in Arms. Try Rainbow 6: Vegas I actually thought its cover system was better than GOW, but be warned you are still going to be stuck with the context sensitive hurdle button instead of the traditional line it up and jump it kind of set up.

I think your problem comes from expecting a fully different game. This isn't quake, nor is it Half Life or Far Cry. It isn't Rainbow Six, either. It's a different kind of shooter. Jumping is not necessary or an improvement in any point of the game, and running is not supposed to be your default movement speed. Every try running crouched and then turning without losing speed? As for the bad language, well, I fail to see the problem (though it could have included an option, wouldn't been such a big issue), mainly because if you're playing Gears, frankly, you shouldn't be the kind of person that gets queasy about language. Not to mention, it's not that vulgar, and it all sounds very... natural. (I don't know about you, but if my gun got stuck while under heavy fire, I would be cussing like hell)
The shortness and lack of exploration are pretty much it's main problems, though the linearity is not so bad, in my book: The game is supposed to be a tour de force heavy in action, and it delivers in this aspect.
Consoles tend to have different strenghts than PCs, Max, and you seem to be looking for PC strenghts in a console. If this is the case, then PC gaming is more in tune for you.

This holds true for quality, and ONLY holds true if you're completely, and honestly, a gamer of all genres. The problem Max here seems to be having is that Gears is not his cup of tea gameplay-wise.
If we flip the coin here, PC gaming is a real letdown because Company of Heores isn't the kind of RTS I enjoy. The liberties taken from Able's true campaign are dumb, and making units is too hard, so you can't have massive attacks on the game. Of course, this is quite useless as a base for making an opinion on PC gaming.
Quick note: I love company of heroes, and I love PC gaming. Just making a point here.

Yea, it's completely fair to fall in the hype, but saying that he's been let down by consoles just because of gears and 360 is foolish, that's like saying I didn't like Diablo, so PC gaming sucks.
I found Rainbow 6 Vegas much more my style. I also disliked how closed the levels are in gears. Vegas gives you much more room to roam. Maybe you should check it out.JimJackJose
