Console gaming is so yesteryear ... the end draws near.

Console gaming - "Guys! Come to mine and check out my games collection! I've even got one of those screens that makes the low res look almost not sh!t!"

PC gaming - "Ladies and Gentlemen, let the feast of HD gaming goodness begin!"

In the near future we'll look back and laugh at ourselves - "Seriously? You used to connect loads of different devices to your TV just to play games? What!? They all had different 'formats' and you had to connect ALL of them up if you wanted access to your whole library? Crazy!! Look at all of those controllers!"

The future is instantly available, fully backwards compatible, real-HD games and media all available through any device of your choosing. For that to happen the hardware itself must be open and conform to open standards, not be controlled by one manufacturer (ala consoles currently). The only format that can allow this to happen is the PC.

We all know PC gaming isn't quite there yet BUT this is why the evolution of the PC is important and the death of consoles inevitable.
