Console power (within reason) matters very little. Quality of games matters!!!!!

Who cares if the PS4 is more powerful than the XBOX ONE? It's doesn't matter!! Both consoles are plenty powerful to run next gen games. Therefore, what matters is the quality of games you like.

For example, I like fighting games and RPGs, therefore I prefer having a PS3 over an XBOX 360. And for next gen, I chose an XBOX ONE first for Killer Instinct, then I will get a PS4 later on when some good fighting games or RPGs come out for it.

What is the point of arguing over specs of consoles each gen when exclusive games and multiplats always end up being comparable in graphics and performance?

Any thoughts on this?

Console gaming has no sophissticated games and practically all console users have been complaining about graphics and not much else.

Sure we can. It will be exactly the same as this generation but with particle effects and excauses to use DRM.

I wouldn't say it matters very little. graphics are important and thanks to all the graphical leaps over the gens games have been able to expand possibilities and become bigger and just overall have more potential. That being said people do put too much focus or importance on it though, and I do feel we have reached a point where graphical leaps have lost their wow factor and just don't seem to be as significant as they once were, as games have already gotten incredibly detailed and some have gotten incredible scope to the point of arguably being superflouos.

I'd like to see game devs make me eat crow though and use next gen hardware to make a game that couldn't be done on hardware before, and in a way outside of graphics.

If you cared about Games, you would have a PC.

Sure it does. Itg says it will be the exact same as it is now but with slightly better graphics. Nothing shown so far at all suggests any drastic change in the slightest when it comes to gameplay lol.

But it does. Retrospective is one of the great things for predicting future patterns. It's been factually proven to work time and time again lol.

What matters is i will not pay $100 more for a console that will end up having no exclusives (like 360) and inferior multiplats.

I actually find both consoles to be very weak, im just getting the PS4 because it the most powerfull of the 3 nextgen ones, and Sony pumps out better exclusives and for longer (MS abandoned the 360 a few years after launch, dont want to risk that again).

Even the PS4 cant cope with Global Dynamic Lighting in some games where other things are being maxed (according to Capcom tech info of Deep Down), i guess fluid dynamics and ray tracing is totally out of the question for these consoles.

Let's see, GT5, previous games all high quality, GT5 releases and it's incredibly inconsistent which wasn't shown before release. Demon souls, got a lot of hate prior to release, turned out to be arguably one of the greatest games of the generation etc. You can't say if a game will be high quality for certain until it comes out, considering the devs can pick and choose what they show.soulitane

But I used statistics and stuff. You just said "i'm right".

Predicting trends is what drives bussiness. It's what drives console gaming. It's why pc gaming is inspired and better due to it's open nature and console gaming is typically dervivative copy-pasty. It's pretty easy to see from the sexbox launch Microsoft was taking no risks, following a trend. Simples.

I actually agree with TC for once,which is why I choose Playstation.Lots of high quality exclusives and powerfull hardware.Also Sony support their consoles throughout their lifecycle.

Sony might have slow starts, but they always end with a bang! Just look at all the exclusives coming to PS3 this year!

1.1tflops (after 10% gpu OS reserve) vs 1.84 is not small... its nearly 2x ps3 difference of power.

Considering the visuals of The Last of Us, double that and subtract...

I completely agree. The most essential and timeless elements of a game: gameplay, level design, and challenge don't require power.

If you want gameplay with no power then stick to pong, tetris and pac-man.

Games like Uncharted, Half Life, Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto have the graphics, design, characters, plot, online, gameplay only with good hardware.

Better hardware makes better quality games, graphics and gameplay.
But some companies go for the cheaper option, and less innovation and more of the same old formula and with little improvement, hardware and in software.

I agree.. console power only matters if the quality of games is there to make it matter.

Luckily Sony this coming gen. has both, more power & more quality.

Titanfall - never was exclusive, though MS would like you to think it is.

Gears of War 4 might get announced... most likely will, but unless Epic signs MS to publish... it could end up multiplat as well... crazier things have happened.

Look at the past 2 years Sony keeps releasing quality titles, MS basically gave up in favor of Kinect 2.0 and the XBAWX1, and they gave up years ago.

I won't be fooled by them again.

consoles are already outdated and arent even out, and even more so in 4 years, so yes power will matter, when xbox starts running games at 20 fps and ps4 at 30 fps, difference will matter. More power and better games, ps4 wins this gen.
