It's funny how only here on Gamespot forums in SW, PC is always claimed the victor!? Yet when you go on-line you find time after time game sales are dropping in the PC platform. Yet it is claimed on here that because it is given more AAA's on this site it automatically wins?? LOL. Think again peeps!...;)

The article doesn't specify whether PC sales of retail games are down or online sales or both. So PC sales could just be moving to digital distribution over there much like the US. PC is claimed the victor usually on the grounds of better quality not better sales.

 Yeah, the article is probably about retail sales only, which are declining (because everyone is shifting to digital distribution).

Why would you be surprised when half of PC's good games are expansion packs?  People don't give a damn about expansion packs,  and PC game sells show this.

And Pirates are also killing PC Gaming,  I bet Fallout 3 has sold at least twice as much on Xbox 3Godly.

Console gamers may not care about expansion packs but PC gamers are a different breed. We do care. Tell thta to Burning Crusade or Lich King that no one cares about them. Fallout 3 may of sold more on 360, I wouldn't be schocked but I also don't care. Pirates are harming PC gaming, not killing it, they are not exactly leaving your 360 alone now are they ?

I spend upwards of $4000 a year on games so I have my cake and eat it to.

quality ? pc gaming has quality 

people dont pay extra for just a few shades and textures , they prefer pc gaming to console gaming

PC gets more great games in a year than your favorite console does in its lifetime ^_^

Sorry I am hijacking the thread for a second here but this is what has been pissing me off recently, loads of game developers etc. are complaining they need to stop piracy because they are taking their money, and now its those evil people that sell/buy used games yet they are making more money than every other poor bastard and we are in a recession :evil:. You may have your thread back now :oops: I don't even buy or trade used games and I don't do piracy, it just winds me up that thse companies are so greedy sometimes.

In my other post to you yes I did agree the Wii is the winner sales wise. Imo as a hardcore gamer it failed, but i still acknowledge it has the leading sales number and beats out 360 and PS3.

Just like you don't have to agree consoles are the best system. But neither of us can deny numbers. You don't agree that consoles are the better gaming platform even though sale numbers say they are. I sale it before and I'll it again. PC gaming is dying, because console's are gradually becoming PCs. It's a matter of time when the two platforms will merge and this whole argument will become mute.

Hate to break it to you but quality is directly related to the sales. If no one buys the product, then the budget for the products will dry up and hence effect the overall quality of future products. Without sales to back up the studios, they will eventually move away from the platform and thus end the influx of talent willing to work within that platform. pimperjones

Means to an end.  Sales =/= quality, regardless of their impact later down the road.  

The bottom line is, that at the moment, the PC has the greatest critically regarded lineup of any system. Sales do not impact that at the moment.

This is a moot argument anyway, because many PC games sell fine.

Logically, wouldn't it work the other way, as in, the consoles fading away?  Because, let's be reasonable, PCs aren't going anywhere.  Perhaps the gaming aspect is (it isn't), but PCs in general aren't.  Besides, aren't consoles becoming more and more PC-like with every passing generation?

It seems to follow reason, if your assumption is correct, that consoles will eventually "fade away" and simply become PCs.

The recently formed PC Gaming Alliance industry consortium today unveiled the initial results from its first Horizons Report, highlighting what PCGA president Randy Stude refers to as "incredible growth in online PC Gaming."
