(Edit: as you may notice in the title, it is a just a question and not an answer)

(EDIT BEGIN: What if one can use Keyboard and mouse on the console as well? Will some arguments change?

here is one link that I found: http://gameasylum.us/xbsmsmjoyfrk.html and I guess there exist many such things for 360, PS3 ... etc

Does this adapter look good enough?

EDIT END)

some of my arguments:

Gears of War shows that a Console shooter is an AAA material even after "1 years".

So what if there is a small decrement in the score? When HL2 got released after sometime on XBOX, it got 8.3 and that doesn't mean that HL2 is sub-par when compared to other shooters on the consoles.

Before somebody points out at the lack of multiplayer on HL2-XBOX, I would like to say that many games like Bioshock are there that are AAA without the multiplayer. Thus, it is not an excuse for HL2 falling from AAA to AA on XBOX. Again lower graphics are not an excuse because at that time it looked great on XBOX when compared to other games of that time.

Though PC graphics are better of course and I like PC, but am fed up of updating the hardware. I also find windows as boring (But, I dont hate it).

I use Linux for everything including games.

All it takes for me to disregard console shooters is autoaim, giant hitboxes, and slowed down gameplay. Play UT2k4 then go play Halo, it feels like you're playing in bullet time.

FPS will always be better on PC. Not saying FPS on console aren't great, they are, but PC will always do it better.

when games like Fear, Bioshock and Crysis come out on PC then their (minimum to recommended) requirements need upgrading to even play them.

But shooting with a controller does need more skills than shooting with a mouse. May be thats the reason for autoaim, but its not there in every game on the consoles.

FEAR itself is an old game.

Regarding Crysis: Is your PC playing Crysis with better graphics when compared to some other shooter of the Next gen consoles? I cant imagine the price of that PC when your bought it 4 years ago.

Anyway, I never said that I dont like PC.

I get the feeling you haven't played a PC FPS competitively. Trust me...using a mouse requires way more skill at higher levels. Play UT or CS. Or better yet if you can play TF2 on both 360 and the PC do it. You'll notice a huge difference with the way both are played even though both games are identical.

I am not talking about gameplay. I am saying that aiming takes less skill with a mouse.

Nevertheless, multiplayer on PC requires more skills for exactly the same reason as the opponents can take head shots easily.

Actually, you are so incredibly wrong. As a high-league COD player I can tell you that its not justabout how precise your aiming is, no no no young bucky. Its about how FAST you can line up that shot. The mouse requires more skill than controllers BECAUSE of the fact that its easier to aim. Many people can snap off a shot faster than you can blink your eye. Heck, my reaction timing is .1455ths of a second, which is well above and beyond the norm.

The controller. It does not offer a good FPS experience. My console fanboy friends of mine agree completely and they love the Halo games.

Not to mention:

-Faster gameplay (Moving targets much harder to hit)

-Small reticals compared to console FPS (You don't have the luxury of a giant circle to point at your enemies head)

-Fast on the fly weapon switching

Gears of War is in NO WAY what i would call a PC shooter. Its third person, and the combat is pretty slow so the controller works perfectly. Its also very very damn good.

I was asking that can they include backdoors or hidden viruses? As some mods may not come from trusted developers.

No. But, I trust very few things because I just have 1 PC to do everything including work etc. This is the reason I use Linux.

You cant get viruses unless you physically execute the exe to put them on your computer. Most mods consist of texture/scripting replacement, which makes them virus free on account of the fact they contain no .exe code.

Personally I hate FPS games on console but that could just be me.

People who upgrade to slightly more expensive piece of hardware have themselves to blame. They should save their money and get decent hardware instead of bit upgrading all the time.

Unless somebody can exploit bad programming in the original game.exe using the mod.

No...no. You cant exploit a executable without having SOMETHING THERE to use the exploit. Since mods are textures and scripts....theres nothing to exploit.

You are paranoid for no reason. Sure there are bugs out there and backdoor apps and whatnot, but you can avoid them pretty darn easy without resorting to punishing yourself by using Linux. I have never had a need for a virus scanner cause I know how to avoid viruses. Its not like I shy away from the places where you could get viruses either. Linux is a fun OS if you like to toy around with other operating systems, but to use it just simply cause you are worried about getting a virus or a trojan or something is just nuts.

All it takes for me to disregard console shooters is autoaim, giant hitboxes, and slowed down gameplay. Play UT2k4 then go play Halo, it feels like you're playing in bullet time. poovine
That's is just due to the speed of the game, UT games are insanely fast in comparison to a lot of other games. But it comes down to personal preference, I for one perfer shooters on PC.

  1. The Majority of Console shooters are still capped at 16 Players.
  2. Consoles shooters still don't have Map Creation tools standard.
  3. Console shooters for the majority still aren't running at 60FPS.
  4. Console shooters still don't have mods.
  5. The mouse is still a superior tool for shooters
  • Accuracy
  • Precion
  • Speed

Seriously I have no problem with Forge or Saved Films but when people show grand excitement over these things that have existed since forever on PC then yeah you know its not on par with PC.

GEARs of war is not yoru typical shooter, to call it a FPS is a crime for the game.. That being said PCs still have better controls, multiplayer, mod communityand graphcis when it comes to shooters..

first time i have seen a linux user who's uneducated about how viruses work oO, using Linux takes much more skill and knowlodge then windows ever will, where you got that idea from anyway?

I know how virus works but problem is that I dont know how game mods work in detail. I have this idea that one may embed code in textures or scripts and use some techniques like buffer overflow (old) to run that code using the original.exe.

some of my arguments:

Gears of War shows that a Console shooter is an AAA material even after "1 years".

So what if there is a small decrement in the score? When HL2 got released after sometime on XBOX, it got 8.3 and that doesn't mean that HL2 is subpar when compared to other shooters on the consoles.

MadExponent

HL2 does not play as good on Xbox/360 as it does on PC.

I didn't see an IMO in there :|

Edit: I said it once and i'll say it again, i'd kill to get your rig :o

I already said that another reason to use Linux is that I find Windows as boring.

When was the last time you heard of a virus in a mod? I've never heard of such a thing. No mod team would do that. If someone did do that, it would be known instantly among the community, and no one would use it.
