[QUOTE="TheMouth"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"][QUOTE="TheMouth"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"][QUOTE="TheMouth"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"][QUOTE="TheMouth"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"][QUOTE="TheMouth"] Consoles offer more variety, but if MMORPG's, FPS, or RTS's are your thing then you should be playing on a PC.AdrianWerner
It's a big myth. PCs offer as much variety as consoles if not more. But the variety comes from niche games. And since they are niche everyone sees just RTSes, FPSes and MMOsSure they do, any good fighters, platformers, kart racers, turn based rpg's coming out on the pc anytime soon?
Well fighters...obviously that's not the PC strongest genre, but still...there are some good ones if you follow the doujinscene, Akatsuki sequel is supossed to come out in a month platformers... funnystuff, but PC actualy are doing much better in 2D platformers than console games. Just go and play Gish kart racers-KART Masters is coming out in few months. first good kart sim in a loooong while. I do know that's not what you've meant though :D turn-based RPGs- Avernum4 will be out in march of course..you're just biased and have chosen sub-genres that PC don't excel at..but I could do the same... tell me..any good hack and slash RPGs, racing sims, simulators, adventure games, tactical shooters, side-scrolling/top-down shooters, puzzle games or sport managers coming out on consoles anytime soon? let's say..in the next 6 months?I'm being biased??? What are you talking about. All I said was that consoles offer more variety that PC's, but if you prefer fps, rts, and mmorpgs you should play the PC. I wasn't being biased towards anything. You told me that it was a myth. I only asked you where those genres were because you claimed what I said was a myth. Sure the PC might have a great 2d platformer, but Consoles make platformers in 3D now. Viewtiful Joe is an exception, but it's a killer platformer.Â
I'm not taking the stand that one is better than the other. I will take a stand that based on your gaming preferences, one can better than the other.
You bias camed from naming the consolish sub-genres and using them as examples of supossed variety of console gaming. And sure..you say that..but you still haven't responded to my choices of PCs types of games. bassicaly...I could as well say "PCs offr more variety, but if you prefer sports, racing or action games then you should play consoles". Ir would be as true as your claim(which means it wouldn't be true:) ). I stand by my statement..pc offer every big as much variety as consolesOk, so you're telling me that someone who prefers platformers, fighters and TBRPG's would be happy with just a PC? Please. I stand by my (unbiased) statement that depending on what genre types you prefer, you'll be happy with either the PC or console.
You can stick with your biased view that someone who likes those genres I named would be happy playing the PCÂ with those obscure titles you mentioned.
Why are you trying to twist the facts? Really. You clearly said that consoles offer more variety, that was biased ande untrue. of course any fighting game or platformers won't find much to play on Pcs, just like a fan of adventure games or simulatros won't find much to play on consoles. That;s obvious. But that's not what you've written. Don't try now to twist it around..you clearly wrote that consoles have more variety, you were proved wrong and now you're just trying to avoid ownage. I never claimed that "someone who likes those genres you named would be happy playing the PC with those obscure titles I mentioned" I never said that, so don't make stuff up. You were simply wrong ,admit it and walk away at least with shreads of dignityConsoles do offer more variety. The titles you mentioned are obscure garbage that no one's ever heard of. The Genres that the PC does better, still have some excellent titles on consoles, it's just that the PC does it better. Examples: FF XI, Halo, UT, Halo 2, HLII, Doom III, The Sims (and every incarnation of), The Urbz. All excellent titles in those genres. So yeah, consoles do offer better variety. And I still say that if you prefer RTS, FPS and MMORPG's then you should pick up a PC. If your a fan of any other genres, pick up a console. It's all based on genre preference.
i can't agree, if you think those are' garbage" then you obviously have horrible gaming taste. And..in every "console" genre pc also have good titles. So don't be ridiculus. What's more..PC offer more variety inside each genre. best example:FPSes...PC offer not only typical FPS, but also tactical shooters (like Socom and Call of Duty?)Â and fps/rpg hybrids (I own Deus X II for my Xbox), which consoles do not have. So... bassicaly if you prefer sports, action or arcade racing..then you should pick a console, for every other genre...pick up a PC.it's all based on genre preference (That's what I said in my original post.)Also:
