When talking about consoles vs pc i think more people tend to forget that they are not the same experience .

The PC is best for high end gaming and custom hardware and software .

While console gaming is much more user friendly and accesable .

I feel that in sw we get off topic. Like comparing an OEM to a custom pc . I don't think its fair as you have to make it your self while an oem building it is part of the cost .

Do you think pc is cheaper? i offen see pc gamers talk about this . Steam does have some pretty good sales. But retailers also have some good deals. I got no more heros 2 for 20$ at wal mart when it was priced at 49.99 at my local best buy .

To start PC gaming from scratch is not cheap, I accept that but its far better than console gaming IMHO.

PC is better for micro/macro-managing gameplay

Consoles are better for sit-back and enjoy gameplay

PC gaming is alot cheaper in the long run at least for me. The initial investment is more.. since I go all out, but let me say I pay 50US for a PC game and I end up paying 70US for a console game. So my PC pays for itself in a couple game purchases.

I need local multiplayer online is just not the same.

Also when I play PC all I can think is that the keyboard and mouse is not built for gaming probably just not used to it though.

How long did it take for other people to get used to the keyboard

They're not even comparable. The sales that Steam have are leagues above any deal local stores could give you.

Oh and no more Heros 2 for 20$ ain't that great of a deal at all. It's 30 dollars (CANADIAN btw) not even on sale at Futureshop.

No one is arguing that. However in the long run for someone who buys a good amount of games, it ends up cheaper overall.

as legit as it is to argue pc gaming here the reality is that it is in a class all it's own and if we were more honest about it it would not be allowed.

my argument has always been arguing how great pc is in sw is exactly like arguing how great motorcycles are on a bicycle website.

there is basically not one topic in sw that you can't stop by type "pc is better" and not be totally correct.

really sw where is the fun in that?

But that's still only 10 dollars less than Futureshop. And still even then local store have far less deals and aren't nearly as good as what Steam offers. It's not even debatable.

I'm old-fashioned.

PC: Flight sims, RTS, FPS and any other game with first-person perspective, Strategy/War games. Adventure, Racing sims

Console: Sports, 3rd-person games, arcade, other twitch games

So long as I stick with the above, I've had a great time with both.

What is wrong with you consolites and thinking we need to upgrade our PCs all the time. I've had this PC for 3 years and I still play almost every single game at high settings (which looks a lot better than any console game). And I don't feel the need for an upgrade for another 1-2 years.

i don't understand arguing the price of something that you already own one or 5 of.pretty much every family has a pc and would still buy them if prices were to skyrocket.you might as well play games on it. you could buy 0 PC games and still have a better section than all 3 combined.

I have a gaming pc to. To have a decent pc you should upgrade every 2 years or so . I got a mid ranged machine i know how things are . how much does a decent card cost? around 150$ . I guess you may not have to upgrade for a while if you got a higher end machine .

You're just not used to mouse and keyboard. I use controllers for some games, but mouse and keyboard are more accurate and quicker. Why? Well, the sticks on controllers are analog. Mouse and keyboard are digital...the response is quicker on digital devices.

I will say this, however: playing racing games with a mouse/keyboard sucks.

I don't have a gaming pc but I have a pc capable of playing most games at max. It has a radeon 4670 that is a low budget card but lots of power for it's price. I just don't like gaming on the pc. I can't exactly explain why but it does not feel right. I did beat the whole half life 2 series on pc though. My game on pc look better but

I even played batman AA on pc and consoles. The pc looked better but the console was more natuarl and fun. Controls also come into effect.

I don't have the same familiar experience. Maybe it's just the fact I grew up playing in the arcades and then on consoles like the master system/nes.

PC is better for complex/thinking and immersive games, while consoles are better for "pick up and play" and cinematic titles.

When it comes to price, it depends where you live and how you play. The initial cost of entering PC gaming is bigger than console gaming, on the other hand once you have a PC the upgrade isn't that expensive. And games are cheaper on PC too (in some countries even half as cheap). What's more, online multiplayer is free on PC. And there is a lot of huge professional made free games nowadays (MMOs and browser titles). So it depends. I guess it's more expensive at first, but then the more you play the cheaper it gets in comparision to consoles and it can very well end up being a lot cheaper than console gaming as a whole.

That, and there arent' huge amounts of paid DLC on PC, not to mention the sheer amount of user created content that gives you so many more game hours

There's zero charge for online, and PC gamer's get the absolute most features when it comes to online.

And accessories on consoles are expensive. Upwards of $70 for a controller.........

PC gaming is so much cheaper to me over the life of the system

Think about a PC gamer trying to get into consoles. He sees the controller and thinks "How can you play with this thing it only has like 10 buttons? I'm supposed to accurately point a direction with this little stick while just using a thumb? and there is a second one? This must be a joke, this thing isn't built for gaming".

Now meditate about the whole thing. Everything is in the mind.

Comparing PC gaming to console gaming is like comparing apples and oranges. Each have their own unique features, and abilities. HOWEVER... Mouse and Keyboard>Controller

I prefer PC because I can get sucked in a game on it, yet I just can't get into it with the console.

I prefer multiplayer gaming on the PC and single player on the consoles. I think console gaming is slightly more relaxed; not as focused as PC.

I bought Half Life when I was 9 years old (inb4 age restrictions nowadays), and I played that and counter strike right alongside Goldeneye on N64 (and you know how limited a single analog is when it comes to fps).

So in essence it took me 0 minutes to get used to it :D I just hopped right in. Of course nowadays my sensitivity is many many times higher than it used to be as I've increased in my skill in online games.

I mean I find it hard to understand how you couldn't get used to it considering the mouse and keyboard were ergonomically designed to be incredibly easy to use which is why it is THE standard for 99% of business and computer apps, but who knows? Shooting at a target in a video game would be just as easy as pointing the cursor at the System Wars link to get into these forums, or clicking an icon on your desktop.

What controller is that?

glez13

360 Wireless controller with rechargeable battery pack

Now you're right, you don't "need" to buy the one with the rechargeable battery pack, but if you don't then you'll "need" to spend money on AA batteries anyways.

Then the PS3 controllers are $54.99

Wii Remote with M+ and nunchuck is $70

Kinect is going to be $150, and Move is going to be somewhere in the range of $100 for that Move game bundle, and an extra $30 for the navigation controller.

I mean controllers are flipping expensive this gen compared to last. Last gen I could buy an Xbox controller for $25, the PS2 controller for $25, and if I wanted to get fancy I could buy a Wavebird for $35.
