This thread ended quick. And btw TC, did you even try running GTA IV on PC? It was a complete joke.Higher standards.

I don't see why the PC should be judged at a higher standard (think it's a silly perspective). HOWEVER, TC, you make console users look bad. PC games are usually far bigger in every way to console games since, you know, they can run so much more.

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but you have proof for this? I'm really curious
We all know what the PC is capable of and yet we have lazy developers who keep giving the PC crappy console ports. It's quite simple really. The damage control here is pretty funny, why not just say its got a wider variety of games and less big budget games as they don't need exclusives to sell the system like MS and Sony do?

Because that would be a logical approach. We be on SW!
So no games on PC can reach the standards required to gain a 10? Wow, sloppy devs.Higher standards.

GTA 4 was terrible in the PC at launch (did you played it?) So that i can see why it didn't got a 10.
But is there any pc game that is better than MGS4, or SMG2?
Regardless of scores, the PC benefits from having some of the most influential games of all time and mostly the superior version too: the HL series, Counterstrike, WOW, Crysis 1, Deus Ex 1. Arguably, a lot of these games will be remembered longer than some of the games that received 10s and such. biggest_loserThe only true post in this thread. If it weren't for the PC, games above mentioned would cease to exist on the PC, let alone consoles. There would have been no Deus Ex: HR, no Half Life, no Crysis, etc.

Don't say that, people will start hating on my two favorite games this gen. But it's quite arrogant to claim that there are no games on PC better than those two, opinions do exist.

Yes I did play it and I in fact enjoyed it. Like what someone else said, it's the same game overall. Heck, even iCEnhancer mod made the game run better, for me at least.[QUOTE="Iantheone"]PC games are judged to a higher standard /threadPelon208

PC has more high quality exclusives this gen than all 3 consoles combined. I'd take that over those overrated console games on any day of the week.

Don't get me wrong, Im a PC gamer too. But higher standards its the reason?.
I just don't eat that.
Because there isn't that great of an incentive to publish a AAA title for the PC, nor are there any true 1st party publishers for the PC willing to pump in $50+ million towards making a AAA exclusive title.
This most likely would have been possible with Valve but of course...

Who cares what people think about your favorite games. Others should have no influence on what you play and/or like.

We Rate Games According to the Current Standards of Their Platforms and Genres
Every gaming platform is different, especially in terms of its technical features. However, we believe high-quality gaming experiences are possible on all the gaming platforms that we cover. So we review games against the standards of their respective platforms by implicitly comparing them to other games on that same platform and, to a lesser extent, to other games in that genre. As a result, our ratings of games on different platforms are not intended to be directly compared to one another. However, relative comparisons do apply, so a game that scores poorly is a poor game by any standards, while a game that scores extremely high is an outstanding game by any standards.Gamespot Review Guidelines

I agree, actually, I think the higher standard argument towards overall appraisal of the game is tired and old (though Kevin V did indeed say that the standards were higher for *multiplats*).

But why they have higher standards? Because the PC has more power? Or because it has KB/M? I just don't really get it
Are anyone to pay reviewers or significant AD campaigns on review sitesBecause there isn't that great of an incentive to publish a AAA title for the PC, nor are there any true 1st party publishers for the PC willing to pump in $50+ million towards making a AAA exclusive title.

Actually, I don't mind at all. I just don't like when games (both PC and console) get flak for simply being in the crossfire. I have friends that simply hate MGS4, so that's not the problem.

So gfx>>gameplay?
Some of my favorites PC games are old and looks like crap, and I enjoy them more than some new games that looks awesome.
(Exept crysis 1 love that shooter more than any other)

Really? Consoles are using 5-6 year old hardware while PC is using the current up-to-date hardware. It can help in all those factors, but is not a universal upgrade.

My point exactly, just because PC can do some freaking amazing gfx doesn't mean its a better game. I go more for gameplay, the PC can use any controller on the market including the 360 and PS3 controller. So it has to be because of KB/M
[QUOTE="agpickle"]Ah, the old argument that hermits cling to. Has anyone ever actually said that PC exclusives were held to a higher standard? Because I have never seen it. Actually they have, I believe KevinV stated itHigher standards.

[QUOTE="agpickle"]Ah, the old argument that hermits cling to. Has anyone ever actually said that PC exclusives were held to a higher standard? Because I have never seen it. Yes,Kevin V already stated that but let´s assume he didn´t then. How do you explain the fact that MW2,even though it´s exactly the same game on the PC and it even looks better than the console versions and also has the possibility of using KB/M and controller scored less than the consoles versions almost everywhere? This is just one example.Higher standards.
