People love sequels and remakes? Not putting games on sale is OK? 4k60 doesn't matter?

free-to-play rules the gaming world.. as such, each generation, there are less-and-less million sellers on a single platform.. which is why multiplatform is a key strategy for everyone not named "Nintendo"..

Nintendo is Nintendo.. they are immune.. even the Wii U had more million sellers than the PS4.. only Nintendo can do what they do..

A lot of people have said to sell the most games and to keep growing, then companies should go multiplatform, so they'll probably end up doing that.

That article doesn't have a source for their numbers and I have never heard of this gaming site before. The numbers seem really off for ps5 so I'm going to call BS on this one

PlayStation Studios released like 5x 1M+ sellers on PS5 just last year.

There's only 7 first party PS5 games I can think of off the top of my head that are surefire million+ sellers. And it shares 4 of those games with the PS4. And the sales numbers for these games are FAR lower than the Switch sales numbers. PlayStation has never been known for great attach rates. Really makes me wonder what Cows are playing...

Interesting chart to look at. As much as people trash the Switch, it objectively have the games.

interestingly, the GameCube and the Wii U had more million seller 1st party games than the PS4 yet both are seen as failures while the PS4 ended the console war due to its wild success..

goes to show how important 3rd party support is..

that said, Nintendo has clearly been on fire with Switch 1st party releases..

heck, according to the chart, the PS5 is outpacing the PS4 despite only a fraction of the 1st party output.. the brand sells itself at this point..

Throughout the annals of console history, we have seen a number of poorly received hardware pieces that, years later, were recognized in a different light. Wii U is in the same category. Too many factors played heavily (negatively) on the perception of the console during its time on the market, but the last few years have shown a greater appreciation and a clearer image of it. Looking back, the library was quite good.

So, I'm not sure where "the gamer" got their list from, but I smell bullsh_t.

I'm asking for real, what do we call Bethesda games and Activision games? They're not first party? Microsoft's owned studios? 2nd party? A new term? So then naughty dog isn't a first party studio either? This really confuses me, because there's been like a dozen Microsoft owned games that have sold more than a million....

Also, didn't realize just how bad this gen was for Microsoft and Sony compared to Goldan Age of gaming. Yikes.

The list left out Sega. Based on the Wiki list, the Mega Drive had at least 13 first-party million-sellers. However, the Wiki list is incomplete, so the real number for the Mega Drive could be anywhere between 13 and 20.

I noticed it when it had the original Playstation had 49 first party games pass a million in sales, but when you read the actual article it says games published by Sony (ie money hated) so the list is wrong and the OP knows this, he just has an agenda that is not very well hidden lol.

Those numbers are adding remasters and remakes which I wouldn't personally call exclusive, and every version of Pokemon games (which is the lions share). Don't get me wrong, the Switch is great, but those numbers feel very artificially inflated
