But you played the console version, so you don't really have an accurate idea of what the game really is. The PC version is very different.
SaltyMeatballs
content and gameplay wise? probably not.
Graphics and UI (which may alter the gameplay a bit) But other than that I don't see that huge of a difference between the console and PC versions. Its a .5 difference not a 5 point difference.
PC gameplay was very different, at least the battles. A lot more enjoyable. How so? I'd honestly like to know because for me its: pause queue up some attacks, unpause, fighting happens, do some real time button presses for spells/attacks, pause if I'm getting overwhelmed, queue up potions/healing spells, unpause, and finish fight.
Rinse repeat. Is it drastically different from that?

Well Dragon Age should have been in the As, the game is very old school and doesn't do anything new to the genre, add to that the awful graphics, bugs and framerate issues in both 360 and PS3 consoles, clunky gameplay mechanics and you get an overrated trash.
Skittles_McGee
and a somewhat challenging Action RPG Does DO something new to the genre?
Demon's Souls? Yes actually, it does. Nearly all of the Demon's Souls online features are new to the genre, hence part of the reason it won the award for Best Original Game Mechanic. It innovates in some ways. This is exactly what I wanted to say.

Call it what you want, but it is something new. There's also the way different players interact such as Black Phantoms, as an easy example. You can downplay it all night. It brought something new.[QUOTE="Kandlegoat"][QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"] Demon's Souls? Yes actually, it does. I've been playing RPGs for a very long time. The way Black Phantoms actually work, if you bothered to recognize that, is different than PvP we've normally had. Instead of trying to discredit my "knowledge" of RPGs, you could just agree that Demon's Souls does bring some new ideas to the table in some form or another. There are features in the game that either we haven't seen in their current form, or have seen very precious little of.gametrailers also gave rpg of the year to DS. so its not only GS. theres no way a turnbased boring sleeping pill of an rpg can beat a action rpg.that action rpg had hardly any depth to it and i pefer the dao combat style rather than button mashing myselfbutton mashing???? im guessing you never played DS and that your words are coming from your rear end. go try button mashing in the first level and see how far you get.[QUOTE="Revolution316"]
[QUOTE="HoolaHoopMan"]That is what's puzzling to me as well. I've played and beaten both, and I can say that DAO is easily better than Demon's Soul's. But just remember that this is the same site that said MGS4 had better graphics than Crysis: Warhead.mirriorman

The score is given by an individual reviewer, while the editorial board decides on the overall best game.iggyb387
Much like Metacritic and GameRankings where the industry decides the overall best game.

How could Gamespot so impetuously put Demon's Souls ahead of Dragon's Age: Origins?PC is not a platform? :(
Disgrace...XturnalS
1. Scores don't mean squat in determining which game wins which award. 8.4 GOTY to Everquest is proof enough.
2. Group opinion > individual opinion
3. DS is just as deserving of the award as DAO and this isn't the first place DS has won RPGOTY.
Much like how Metacritic + GameRankings > gamespot

There are features in the game that either we haven't seen in their current form, or have seen very precious little of. And that's not the only way those messages work. I was warned by people many times of black phantoms ahead of where I was going, like at (I think) 3-1 while walking up a staircase. There was a phantom and you can't see it until you're very close to it. So these arrows (that took a lot of hp) were coming out of no where. But I knew it was coming because of these messages. And other messages tell you what certain mobs coming up are weak to. Hardly a waste of a feature. Also the way we can invade or summon players is quite awesome along with seeing how others died. All cool features.[QUOTE="XturnalS"][QUOTE="Salt_The_Fries"]Since when 9.5 < 9.0

Speaking of that 91 > 89.What's wrong with Dragon Age's combat system?Better than Demon's Souls? With the combat system of DAO?
Nope, I'll take Gamespot's opinion thanks.

[QUOTE="Theguy56"]What's wrong with Dragon Age's combat system? Don't know how it is later in the game but I found the combat to be REALLY slow. I was enjoying the story but the combat made me stop playing. This is probably the reason why the only series that I like from Bioware is the Mass Effect series.Better than Demon's Souls? With the combat system of DAO?
Nope, I'll take Gamespot's opinion thanks.
