Contemplating on getting a...Wii!? (UPDATED)

So I just got a nice check today and well I decided to roam the internet for a good price on a Wii...to my surprise I was able to find one for 130 bucks on ebay

It's missing the Stand and a Nunchuck...so I just finished buying a new nunchuck for 10 bucks and SMG for 26 on Amazon....so the grand total has come out to 176 with tax and shipping...oh snap! :D

So if everything goes good I should officially be a Wii Owner soon :twisted:

So for awhile now I've been going on about how I feel Nintendo hasn't done enough to warrant a purchase from me or most gamers in general but I sit here today thinking to myself how nicely a Wii would compliment my PS3 and 360....How did this come about?

Well I've owned a 360 since January of this year, and even though it's a great system it just doesn't compliment my PS3 all too well. The two systems offer far too similar experiences which leads to me playing one system 90% of the time while the other gets about 10.

Now I'm not hinting at the idea of selling my 360, heck no...with games like Forza 3, and Splinter Cell Conviction coming I'd be pretty upset at the thought of not being able to play those games day one. On top of that, like I said earlier it's a great system and now that I've had one for awhile I can't picture myself without it.

What I find funny about the whole situation though is what made me shy away from the Wii in the first place is what has me contemplating on getting one now. All the family friendly tape games, and unique titles, and the motion controls that I don't want either Sony or MS toying with all have me wanting to get one....but the main reason would probably be this guy...

So yea all in all you guys might have a new Wii user roaming the SWs board come September 1rst. :)

Hm, good luck with your purchase.. I don't believe I'll be getting a Wii this gen, there aren't enough games that seem to interest me, and the controls really hurt the decision.

I'd keep the PS3 and get a Wii.

Well the first step to actually liking the system would be playing games for it so if you do that I would say go for it lol.

Enjoy it! There's plenty of games for you to catch up on.

Don't do it! The SW masses will look down on you and shun you forever! You will no longer be a trve gamer!

Just kidding. After the year the Wii's been having I'm finding it pretty difficult to ignore myself. I probably would have bought one by now if I had the funds available. So yeah, like you said, I think it complements the 360/PS3 really well, and it's got more than enough decent games avaiable, so I say just go for it.

The Wii is an excellent system, and having all 3 systems will be sure to be awesome for you with all these great games coming out across all the platforms

Good for you. Owning all the consoles is where it's at for gamers.

SD cards help a lot, it's the only reason I have enough space for all my VC, channels, and DLC lol.

I love every single thing about my Wii (Got it at midnight on 11/19/06).

One problem... Too many good games coming out, that I wish I could have now. :cry:

I'd buy it for that factor alone. Nintendo may not be as flashy, but they sure are good at creating fun, enjoyable little gems.

And Brawl, do it for the Brawl (especially if you've never played melee before)

I don't man, For me the Wii is not worth it (and yes I have a Wii well my lil sister does :P) but I got to admit I have wasted a good amount of money on the wii online store buying retro games and some wii ware but that's all the wii has going for it, as for the retail games they don't really apeal to me but that's just me. If you like the games that they are making for the Wii I say go for it but for sure you'll be playing it for a full week then you'll let it collect dust for a month or two then play on and off well that's what my lil sister does the only game she plays 2 times a week is guitar hero 3, and I always get mad at her cause she plays her Ds more than the Wii and I tell her you just wasted $380 for nothing you don't even play the Wii. But if you have the extra cash and like the old skool games go for it since you have another console, but yeah Wii gets old pretty fast imo.

The Wii is my only system currently, though I sorta owned a 360 for while. But anyways I love the system, if you like the games for it then get one. It has some great upcoming exlusives that you should look into.

The Wii complements a PS3 or 360 quite well. I have all three and the Wii continues to surprise me. If gamers give it a chance, there's bound to be something on there that will suit you. True, there's a lot of shovelware on the system but who says you have to play em? I'm playing LKS and Zack and Wiki right now on the Wii and it's awesome. The only games I'm playing for the PS3 and 360? CODMW, Tales of Vesperia and WAW, which are similar to 90% of the other PS3 and 360 games out there.

Good, it's always good to diversify as a gamer. It leads to less fanboys in the world.

I'm not surprised. I mean, as much as one might hate the light-hearted cartoon Nintendo of old (god knows why) it reaches a point where they get curious about it because you basically can only find it on Nintendo systems (at least to that level of polish and overall quality).

Buy these games...and feel like the child-like glee of playing videogams again.

I want a wii too. Mostly for Mario Galaxy1, 2 and New Mario Bros

Just get games online not in a physical shop, and read the recommendations thread.
But try wii sports (resort) first to get used to the motion stuff.
How would You like playing an FPS with dice? It's new, so it takes getting used to. Just like dual analogue took time.
Ow and be prepared for potential little sisters beating Your bottom at stuff like wii sports (resort).

The Wii itself isn't region locked, But the games are. I always bring my American Wii to Shanghai on long ass business trips...And the JPN games here don't work on my system lol (unless you get it hacked, which btw, is illegal)

If you already have a ps3 360 and or a gaming pc why not? If you have a good amount of money especially why not, just for the mario game.

If you like playing games with family and friends, you can't go wrong with a Wii. It's a **** blast with others.

eh, i convinced my little sister to ask for one last christmas, and IMO its so not worth it. there are about 5 games that you'll enjoy playing, but thats it. you'd be better going to a friends house to play it, especially if there aren't games on the horizon that interest you (there isnt for me). Also, IMO, PS3 has better upcoming games than the 360. so if I was getting rid of one of them, it would be the 360

The wii is good. its got some variety that differes from the other 2, and thats not a bad thing. its great having people over for drinks and wii sports. Or playing Mario kart with my GF.metalisticpain

I've said this before on different occasions, other than MGS4, Wii sports with friends (and drinks!) is the most fun I've had with video games in a long time.
