what do you guys think should be implemented in the next gen consoles to improve aiming? do you think Move and Wiimote are the best solution or what?

the mouse is best when it comes to aiming, but for console gaming I don't think it's a good solution, for obvious reasons. so what say you?

I will say that I've been told the wii has the best setup for fps games. Now that I've bought the PSMove, I disagree. Mainly because it just isn't relaxing holding your hands out in such a fashion--very much so in the same way your hand can cramp up on a keyboard. There's a reason the controller is so popular and has been remained a staple in gaming--IT IS COMFORTABLE. I think the wiiu pad looks interesting. No doubt about it, it potentially opens up new gameplay experiences.

Personally think its fine the way it is.

Only people that really seem to bother are hermits to be brutally honest, Controllers do their job fine and get you by in any FPS out on a console so why change it.

I think console shooters need to evolve and stop copying PC shooters. Then the light guns can come into play once again.

The same thing they have right now. Overly large hitboxes and aim assist.

On consoles there just doesnt seem to be a way around the controller. It simply isnt practical to use a M/KB on consoles simply because the console is designed around the notion of sitting on a couch or chair. Now I know PC gamers say that they will buy a Wireless M/KB set up and hook their PC through their flat screen and home theater system, but to me that just seems to be forcing the issue to use M/KB. I simply dont see how being reclined in a chair or kicking back on a couch can work with M/KB. I guess devs could get rid of the aim assist found in most of todays console FPS's. Maybe the TC is right and things like the Wiimote, MOve and Kinect are the way of the future. The thing is with the Kinect especially, the whole premise is that "you are the controller". It would kind of go against their monra to have some sort of gun peripheral and I just dont know how accurately a game like CoD or BF would be played by simply using hand gestures. I mean I can see throwing grenades, melee/knifing and aiming a gun. But how on the Kinect do you emulate shooting and zooming on the scope. How about setting a Claymore or diffusing a MCOM station?? All of these soryt of function need to be on a controller or KB.

imo, nothing beats a keyboard/mouse for fps. Wiimote/chuck works really well, but what games does it really have? Move works fine for kz3(only game ive tried) but it just didnt seem as good as say MP3 on wii. there are lots of different contollers out there, and some work better then other for different types of games. i cant wait to try the Wii U controller.

Controller accuracy isn't that big an issue because the game helps you aim. This is more noticeable in some games than others, but almost every console game does this. A more accurate control method would simply mean less aim assist needs to be applied, so the added accuracy on a technical level would be negated by your perception that your accuracy has not been dramatically improved. The success of Kinect--which if anything is less accurate than competing motion controllers--demonstrates that accuracy is not a necessary goal of motion controls.

No motion controller can be as accurate as a mouse because they all rely on sensors that give a vague idea of where the controller is pointing or its current location and rotation in 3D space (hence the introduction of aids like the Wii MotionPlus); the game then fills in the blanks with guesswork and aim assist. The mouse does the complete opposite, trasmitting straight X-Y coordinates that tell the game exactly where it is and how far it has moved, no guesswork involved. Physically picking up and replacing the mouse is not detected (since it is not a motion controller) but all movements made while maintaining surface contact are replicated with pixel-perfect accuracy. The flat operating surface also negates any inaccuracy in the user's own coordination (your hand might wobble noticeably when you hold a controller, but this variance doesn't affect the mouse).

Cause gamepads suck for FPS, that's why. If they're so good, why do devs implement sticky aim (which still doesn't make it very good), for console FPS games?

I turn off the aim assists and do just fine. They do it to make it more accessible for people that don't normally play fps, or those that feel the need to boost stats.

If they gave people the option between mouse, motion controller, and Controller I think people would pick the mouse for FPS

I agree with those saying controllers are fine. It's not like im in the olympics when I play a video game. A controller has the best balance between comfort and precision for me.

Controlers are fine considering everyone is using one as well.... but it encurages people who suck to camp :D Some hate them though, but I think they are just not used to them.

motion controls are just better than joypads for fps's, it gives that realistic feeling. and come on, aiming with an analog stick is so bad.

cant turn that off man.Except if the game is Cod.

Controllers are fine i put the sensitivity up which makes it strangely to a hermit more responsive oh the horror. Its like a kb and m you can make it as sensitive or as slow as you like.

it still doesn't feel like something natural to do, motion control works much better in fps's

I'd like to see more full FPS games combining a real light gun with something like the Nunchuck for movement, and Kinect for turning the camera. But separate the Nunchuck, not fix it to the gun. Slow paced shooters with simple mechanics would work best, probably a first person Resident Evil (new school). I'd like that but it's gimmicky, it would be cool but dual analogue would still be more efficient. Otherwise we just need to wait for virtual reality, Matrix style not Holodeck.

No need to change to anything else. The defining image of Gaming Control is the Controller or "Joypad" etc
