Found this neat little video. Kinda brings me back to the days when Gears and Resistance were sorta like rivals, before all this monotonous "Uncharted 3 vs Gears 3" crap.

I like how the guy plays music from both games' awesome soundtracks during the montage. And yes, Gears 3 obviously looks better graphically. I don't think anyone will deny that.

Good vid. But Gears 3 curb stops all over Resistance 3. Resistance is a terrible series in my opinion. :(

Man Resistance 3 looks great. The atmosphere and art direction are incredible.

Resistance series for me, played the first 2 games and enjoyed them, gears 3 on the other hand was my first gears and lets just say i didnt enjoy the beta so not interested. good vid tho

Resistance 3 is actually looking pretty good.:) The graphics are alot better than R2's. Heck, they're not far off Gears 3's imo. NYrockinlegend

Resistance games were never known for their graphics, but R3 does look pretty good. It's definitely not gonna be a "graphics king" contender, but it's a good looking console game and holds up well to modern day standards.

Let's not disrespect Gears 3 like this again. Not only is it comparing apples to oranges, it's comparing an AAA series to a AA series.

There is no right or wrong answer here, it is a matter of opinion.

I agree as I also prefer Resistance to Gears. I always felt that Resistance offered more variety in both it's campaign and multiplayer. Plus it's weapons and story are way better.

I hope R3 is better than R2. I never played much of Gears, just some of the 1st game but wasn't overly impressed by that either. The only reason I'll eventually get R3 is just to see how they wrap up the story (hopefully they don't drag it out for a 4th one). As for graphics, they both look to be pretty good, but I'm not really one to get caught up in graphics so I'd be happy with either of them. I'd imagine they'll both get pretty similar praise, which is a good thing since they're both exclusives and it's always nice when a system gets a worthy exclusive.

Everything I have seen of it so far looks pretty solid; unique weapons, dark and dreary atmosphere, nice graphics, great animations, good sound, epic musical score, exciting set pieces, a personal and human story, deep multiplayer, splitscreen co-op. How exactly does it look like garbage?

I think the majority is underestimating Resistance 3 it's likely to be another great title. It's looking very polished graphically too and I'm lovin the artstyle of the game. People find Resistance irrelevant because of Killzone and Gears, but it's another great shooter.

Both for me, i don't even need to read KarateeeChop's post to know there's R3 bashing in it :P

After watching it i don't think there is a loser here, both are just top notch on quality and quantity.

Why does everytime I see gears I see a bunch of gray and brown blended together, with some grass and also blending explosions thrown on there occassionally, and somehow people praise it as great looking. In fact, the two games here look very much the same. They both look good, not great.

maybe R1.but after killzone 2, killzone was considered the fps leader on ps3 :P

Well you might want to play 2 then,LOL. That's one of the more disappointing AAA games I've played this gen. It's the one game that might be more overrated than all the CoD's that score 9.5.

I mean on paper R2 sounds great. But I just found everything about it... bland. The muitplaer was trash. The 8 player co-op was OK, but I hardly knew what was going on and just followed the other players around blasting whatever enemies I saw (I couldn't help but wonder was there a point to it?). Hated the boss fights which all seemed to involve running around in a circular pattern (a pattern they seem to use alot in Ratchet and Clank as well). I'm talking just about every single boss fight in R2 involved running around in a circlular arena dodging then shooting!!! By the last guy I was like PLEASE, enough alraedy...

I have to admit R3 in videos looks alot better than R2, but I'm still not ready to get excited over it.

Wow!!! On its own Resistnace 3 looked unimpressive both gameplay and tech wise. When compared to Gears of War 3, it looks lame. Like Gears 3 is going to destroy that game.

Killzone 3 underperformed and I'm *pretty* sure (correct me if I'm wrong) both R:FOM and R2 have sold more. And Killzone 1 didn't even break 1 million (700K was the final tally I believe). Killzone 2 has sold the most of all of them, but Resistance is more consistant in terms of sales and quality. That said, neither franchise is a huge seller like say Gears or Halo for example.

And being "more bragged about by fanboys" isn't exactlysomething to be proud of:P

They both look great. I'm still being surprised by graphics like this just almost as much as I was when this gen was revealed.

agreed...Resistance was always a game id play when I was waiting for another to come out..It was always fun to me..not a bad game at all

I was admittedly skeptical of Gears 3, but supposedly Epic is acknowledging a lot of the problems people had with Gears 2 (better bosses, more varied gameplay, dedicated server), so I'm more hyped for it now. It still aint gonna be able to even touch Vanquish, but I don't really expect it to :D

Could never get into Resistance. It felt kind of boring to be honest and yes I played and beat Resistance 1 and 2 on the hardest difficulty.

Anyone else had this problem? or is it just me.

I get a similar feeling when I try to play Uncharted as well.

I dont understand the Hype for Vanquish. I beat the game in 4 hours. Some missions took me less than 5 mins to complete. The characters were uninteresting, and the story was incredibly meh. I found myself just playing the game to beat it and not to enjoy it. I do give it credit for its incredibly smooth gameplay and the slow motion mechanics but the rest of the game was incredibly mediocre.

Ive enjoyed Gears 1 and 2 campaigns much more than Vanquish. Epic gave me an interesting story and interesting characters that i actually care about and want to see succeed in their mission. You also get a fun online and horde mode, and the controls are fluent. I feel like Gears is a High End 3rd person shooter that most games wont be able to compete within the same genre.Vanquich does have time trails ans the hope for better percentages but I dont care about that stuff.

I felt like Vanquish was just lacking so much in multiple areas, while Gears of War gives you a full epic experience.

Personal Opinion I guess. Lol

This, and it also helped that R:FOM was the only PS3 exclusive at the time that was actually worth a damn. Still, Resistance 2 sold well over time and is still played to this day, so there's something there that people really like. I'm expecting Resistance 3 to sell around the same numbers as 2, maybe a little less due to heavy hitters like Uncharted 3 and MW3.
