A lot of personal opinions presented as facts in this thread.I think it definetely has the potential to beat Ocarina of Time as the "greatest game of all time". From what we've seen, the game is shaping up to be amazing. What do you think?

For nostalgia's sake maybe Ocarina is "best" ... but its not really right?
Skyrim hype is legendary, just like Oblivion ....
Is this thread serious? Bethesda hasn't had a good game since Morrowind, I'm very skeptical about Skyrim.DragonfireXZ95
Absolutely agree. Most new info make me roll me eyes, or outright sigh.
No.
And Bethseda hasn't had a good game since Morrowind? What did people hate about Fallout 3 so much? It took everything great from the first three games and made them better. And without a terrible 500 day timer.
And yes. Ocarina of Time is probably the greatest game ever made. There's nothing wrong with it. Or is there? Maybe I missed something, but what is something in OoT that could be considered bad?
Apparently the water temple is too hard for some people..No.

It sounds like Oblivion with a better graphics renderer. Everything I have heard so far sounds like the stuff they once talked about in 2005.
It'll be a good game. Oblivion really wasn't that bad at all, contrary to what people think. Have any of you guys plays Morrowind recently?

Y'know. I never had a problem with the Water Temple. The Shadow Temple stuck in my craw awful fierce, though.

I actually have. I booted up my X-Box and started playing it. Not as good as I remembered it.
Well yea. Any and all games could be the best game ever. I highly doubt it will be the best ever. As for best RPG this generation, yea I could see that. Though Witcher 2 and Mass Effect 3 will give it a run for its money this year. Once Diablo III comes out though, that will be the best game ever.
Fallout 3 was plagued with a lot of the same things that existed in Oblivion. Psychic guards Bad AI Poor graphics(Oblivion had good graphics on release, Fallout 3 did not) Poor dialogue Shallow story with uninteresting and silly side quests(wannabe superheroes and kids in a cave?) Worthless dungeons with barely any unique loot available And a few more I'm sure... The only good thing about Fallout 3 was that it was very moddable and people created many great mods for it that made it a decent game, just like Oblivion.No.

The writing will probably still suck, the main quest will probably be disappointing, the world will probably be a big load of FA with copy pasted dungeons, the radiant AI willl probably end up being underwhelming (again).
The levelling up better not be as f***ed as it is in Oblivion. I seriously hate that f***ing game, and I'm certainly not jumping on the Bethesda hype train ever again.
Every Elder Scrolls game has potential to be the best game ever, but they always fall short in one way or another.Guppy507That's because they make stupid design decisions. Like 10 voice actors throughout the whole game, level scaling, copy/paste dungeons, etc. Hopefully they don't do that again.
Is this thread serious? Bethesda hasn't had a good game since Morrowind, I'm very skeptical about Skyrim.DragonfireXZ95This. The character models have promise, but does the combat or story? Doubt it, Bethesda made Morrowind, and never bothered progressing past it.
could i be the king of the world?
could scarlet johansson really be a man?
could obama be gay?
could osama be actually a benevolent septuagenarian?
useless speculation. what does it matter?

Psychic guards? Having bad luck taking slaves from Rivet City or something? ;)
Graphics =/= good game.
How is the story shallow, though? I hear people didn't like the story, then again most people I know that say that don't care for story in their games anyway. It's very much an open ended game (as long as you get the expansion which continues the exploits of the wasteland wanderer) and doesn't need much of a huge story to carry it because you make your own story. Which I like.
What dungeons? Also, you have to remember... it's a post-apocalyptic world. Anything "unique" you find will be anything that still has all its fingers and toes. It's just realistic (to an extent) is all. And there's plenty of unique things you can make if you find the schematics and such. Right now, I'm having loads of fun with the flaming sword you make out of a motorcyle gas tank, lawnmower blade, pilot light and a thing or two else.
I don't think the Slavers or the Oasis or the Tenpenny side quests are silly at all. The Oasis is a very fun one, which.. in my opinion, is a great look at existentialism and the religious nature of man. It reminded me of Monty Python's Life of Brian when the people were following Brian thinking he was the messiah ("And I should know, I've followed a few!"). And the biting satire of Liberty Prime? "Die you communist scum!" ...makes me laugh everytime.
The AI? Well I can't really argue with that. Other than the companions you can hire/get to follow you.. the AI is a little sketchy.
My point is, because you didn't like Fallout 3 doesn't make it a bad game. Takes different strokes to move the world. Oh and the Mothership Zeta expansion is so cool.

They have a LOT more voice actors this time (and some really good ones too), level scaling is fixed (it's like Fallout 3) and dungeons are all unique now. Looks like Skyrim is gonna be one heck of a game :D

By Psychic guards, I mean doing something without being seen like lock picking and being detected sometimes.
Of course graphics doesn't equal a good game, but this engine is old as hell and looks like it. The could have at least upped the textures or something on the PC version instead of having to rely on the modding community for mods.
Everywhere you go, you see the same thing. How many swords with gas tanks exist and why are there so many of the same ones? The unique weapons were boring and they were just more poweful versions of the same thing just with a different unique name. That doesn't make them unique.
I think maybe your humor is just very droll. :P in a Post-apolalyptic wasteland it's fine to have some silly humor, but the humor in Fallout 3 was not appropriate for the setting. Super hero wannabes? Really? Telling a kid he has a stupid name? That's not funny. The writing was not good, no matter how much you want to defend it.
Wasn't Mothership Zeta the worst one? That's the only one I didn't play, but that's what I heard.
Is this thread serious? Bethesda hasn't had a good game since Morrowind, I'm very skeptical about Skyrim.DragonfireXZ95I disagree. I enjoyed Oblivions despite it many flaws. Fallout 3 was excellent. Of course these are all just opinions so... :P
I doubt Skyrim will be the best game of all time. I'm sure it'll be great though. As long as Bethesda doesn't do something stupid. >_>
It's impossible to have a best game ever I'd argue. One could argue the best game ever is a game everyone would enjoy playing but then another could argue that would be a very simple game thats unambitious and lack any sort of personality to be inoffensive.
Choosing an Elder Scrolls game though? Come on, plenty of people don't like that series and alot of fans of the series whined about "consolization" of Oblizion, so I'm sure the fans wont expect the next one to be the best in the series, let alone best game ever.
Arguing about weather an unreleased game will be the best one ever is pointless. It only serves to please fanboys. Only the extreme fanboys and haters will get anything out of arguing over it.

Ah. Gotcha. Can't say I ever had that problem. I've picked locks with Guards around the corner and they didn't notice as long as they weren't looking at me.
I guess you're right about the textures.. I have it on PS3 so I don't really have an option to change the graphics regardless. I'm thinking they kept it like that so people COULD mod it without needing epic programs to compete with the graphics. It's kinda the same idea behind Minecraft.
And I dunno about seeing the same thing everywhere. I, maybe, saw a flaming sword twice before making mine. And the slave gun? Woo that thing is cool. Again, it's a post-apocalyptic wasteland. How many unique items do you think you can find that haven't been obliterated, or worse?
My humor may be droll. But I may also just get the biting satire. :P And sure.. telling a kid he has a stupid name is not very funny. But I didn't think it was intended to be. And I thought the storyline with the Ghouls (if you turned against Tenpenny) was a beautifully written scenario.
And I never heard that. I thought Operation Anchorage was the weakest one. MZ ...there's just something satisfying about bashing an Alien's skull in with its own stun rod.
I DEFINITELY get what you're saying though, Dragonfire. As I said before... takes different strokes to move the world. Agree to disagree? I loved Fallout 3 and the previous games (Hell, I remember buying the game when it first came out... Interplay could've been the next biggest thing). I respect the fact you didn't think much of F3 and you made some great points.

there Bringing dragons into it thats why it will be My greatest game ever, always wanted dragons in the elderscrolls games and Finally we can :D

Morrowind - Oblivion - Fallout 3 all phenomenal games...and Skyrim will be the best game ever...i'm actually wondering if Bethesda has time to release a version on Nintendo's new platform.
no, I think hermits will bash it for falling short of its potential for being "consolized"... or say something like who cares because like "Witcher 2 is better" or something like that... but I loved Morrowind and Oblivion, I'm looking forward to Skyrimlamprey263Really? Because all im seeing are hermits saying how much they are waiting for mods to fix the game.:P
