[QUOTE="Senor_Kami"] Any sequel to a high rated game can get a 10 if it improves. Its not just opinion, thats Gamespot fact.

i don`t think any game can score a perfect 10 its just stupid ...
NO game is perfect but you know here on gamespot Yes it can

10 doesn't mean it's perfect. it means it's as close to perfect as a game can get.
Which makes GTA4 a puzzling case. Anyways, if they improve on Gears1 it will be a 10. After GTA3 and the rivals started popping up, I feel like each GTA game has been less and less impressive and revolutionary when compared to its competition. Every game implements the things that GTA3 introduced. Its old hat now, nothing impressive about sand box gameplay. However, technically GTA4 did add new features so technically its score MUST go up compared to the others.
According to GS, GTA4 is a better game than the entire PS2, N64, XBox, Gamecube, Dreamcast and PS1 libraries with the exception of Tony Hawk 3 (PS2), Chrono Cross (PS1), Soul Caliber (DC) and Ocarina of Time (N64). Hell, there is no xbox or gamecube game thats anywhere near as good as GTA4. When you sum up GTA4, it trumps everything on PS2 except Tony Hawk 3? Chrono Cross is the only PS1 game thats as good as GTA4? Thats a ludicrous statement. I don't think anyone who works for or posts at Gamespot would honestly stand up and say something as ridiculous as that... which goes to show how ridiculous their game ratings have become.
god i wish people would stop trying to compare games of different genres, games aren't reviewed like that.
I disagree. So how do you read a review? Is a 10 in GTA's genre really a 6 in other genres? If GS makes reviews like that, I think the system is far more broken than anyone would have ever believed.
Also, the first half of my post compares GTA4 to GTA3 and it's spin offs.
The blue portion is there so that when you read it, it sounds as ridiculous as I want it to. I think its valid. There seems to be a thing that games shouldn't be judged by their competition. I agree that it shouldn't be a major factor, but when you game is basically the same as a bunch of other titles, but technically it has improved so you feel you can never give it a lower score. Over time the series has gone from really unique to the same as everyone else making games like this... it added gun action that put finally put it up to par with competing games and it added physics so realistic that I can shoot a wooden door with a rocket launcher and it will not only remain intact, it will remain locked.
So ragdoll physics... like practically every current gen game and shooting thats on par with its competition was enough to make it, what was the phrase, "as close to perfect as a game can get." Take the same old formula that hasn't changed in like 6 years, make your features equal to what your competitors have had for ages... and thats seen as close to perfect.
Closer to perfect and better than practically every game ever released.
