Maybe the tv features are nice on the X1, and maybe Kinect is alright, but those definitely wouldn't be the main reason for getting one.
Actually over the coming years when over-the-air transmissions get overtaken by internet TV, then the Xbox having TV features and Kinect could be a huge deal. That would open it up to far greater audience then just games, people buying the Xbox one as a DVR that can handle everything would be a big seller for people (once the price drops).
In terms of games just like the 360 it will keep up with the PS4 just fine. Unless you are referring to the power, which for the majority 900p vs 1080p means nothing. People still don't know what 4K refers to or what UHD means. The majority of games that the general consumers buy like Fifa, Madden and COD are going to be pretty much the same experience on both.
Kinect is irrelevant outside of North America for TV. Also regardess of how the close the garbage annual games are the PS4 is still noticeably more powerful for less money. The people who play Madden, Fifa, COD will want the best version especially when it is cheaper. PS4 already took over Madden and COD from Microsoft on next gen.
The PS4 may be more powerful, but how many will care? the 150 million PS2 customers never looked at the XBOX (or console gamers with PC) and thought damn I need that as games look better on it. Referring to kinect as garbage outside the US is short sighted, both consoles lack lots of features right now, but over the next 8 years big changes will happen (in gaming and outside gaming) and you might see Microsoft's cross platform integration, TV, kinect and cloud service start mattering.
Both the PS4 and Xbox one have garbage hardware in them, both are going to struggle to hit 1080p when they both start getting really stretched. When UHD TV's start taking off over the coming years, they will both be upscaled anyway so then it doesn't matter if they are 1080p, 900p or 720p they are going to look garbage regardless. With tech inside tablets and TVs moving so fast, they will be overtaken in no time. We will see some impressive games, but expecting anything mindblowing from two weak APUs is not going to happen. The power difference isn't going to be an issue they will both get the same games, one game having AA and the other console not or one being 1080p and the other 900p doesn't mean shit to anyone in the real world.
