[QUOTE="CB4McGusto"][QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]That's PC gaming in general, not just Windows Live. ionusX

seconded

untrue.. its jsut gfwl.. gfwl si the polar opposite to xbl despite both ebing made and developed around the same base template.

gfwl is the psoter child of pc gmaing and its also the worst part of it.. steam is where its at!

I've had issues with Steam too - it's not as flawless as people make out. Granted I barely play anything on my laptop but on the also rare occasion that I've used GFWL it's been absolutely fine.

I only have GFWL because i bought Stalker for .99 cents other than that it serves no purpose.

I completely agree, took me about a week to figure out that in order for my install to work i coincidently needed to have all the other free crap that Windows makes. I had to install Messenger and along with that came things i'll never use but my own fault i was just getting annoyed and didn't deselect the checkboxes. I had errors, install failures, games crashing and after scrolling through event viewer and multiple googling i ended up contacting THQ as i though it was Dawn of War 2 causing the troubles.

Oddly enough THQ couldn't find the problem so again i sifted through the dirt and discovered that GFWL requires a shared file which i think only exists if you have the other useless resource hogs that MS produced installed, so after installing them i was suddenly able to play DoW2. I just hate that MS tie in all of their products and make them almost dependancies in order to get one of them working. Im just glad Retribution realised what a load of crap GFWL really is and didn't put it in.

I've rarely ever had issues with GFWL, but I'd rather have Microsoft do away with it completely and just have their products on Steam and Impulse.

I had to manually remove GFWL from GTA 4 to make it work correctly. It thought I pirated the game >_>

It also screwed DoW2, which relic ditched GFWL this year for Steam instead, making finding matches quicker adn easier, and allowing me to invite friends to a match without sending a "GFWL email" to their account. The entire setup was design around the Xbox, and not fit for a PC/laptop
