[QUOTE="DeathScape666"][QUOTE="ChrisSpartan117"]Actuallly, it's more like "Did you like Braid? If not, why?" because I'm a little curious. While Braid does have flaws, I want to know which ones bothered you(like the somewhat confusing story) and how you would change the flaws. And I think you overreacted a little bit, I just wanted to know why you thought the game was overrated to make sure it wasn't because of console preference, even games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or SUper Mario Galaxy or MGS4 or Final Fantasy 7 get bashed because of system preference.ChrisSpartan117

Sorry for getting so uptight. I've had a bad day, and don't like being called a fanboy. I don't own a 360, nor do I own Braid, but I did play the latter. It wasn't a bad game, but I also didn't see what was so stunning about it. It felt overly simplistic to me (It was the early stages, though.), the puzzles were really easy, and the game is very dull looking. I don't know why people think it has such a nice art style, when it just has a bunch of bland, generic environments. The game focuses around puzzles, and I've played much better. I don't really know what else to say. I remember doing one where I had to jump on some lion's head to get to another platform. There was another where I had to get this key by killing some enemy, rewinding time, so I could get back to the platform. I don't really know what else to say. For a game like Final Fantasy III DS I can point out flaws, but there's nothing really I can say about Braid other than the fact that the puzzles aren't as clever as some make it out to be. I'm sorry, but Majora's Mask still holds the spot for best puzzles in a game. Also, I can't remember what the article was about, but I just remember the guy who made Braid talked negative about a highly regarded 2008 game, like he can talk down to great games because he made Braid. Does anyone know what I'm talking about.

You need to see the ending to Braid. Every gamer needs to see the ending to Braid. It's genius. If you want to see it, go see the link in the orginial post. And also, you should know that the time mechanic changes with every world. There's one world where if you stand still, time stands still, if you go left, time goes backward, if you go right, time goes forward. But disregarding how the puzzles evolve, Jonanthon Blow is very critical of mainstream games for the same reason he dislikes mainstream movies, is because they don't "push the medium forward" or rest on their laurals.

Before I continue, do you know what 2008 game Blow critized? That could help me know what to say next.

Well, the demo was short, so I guess I didn't get the jist of it. If it comes out on PC, then I will buy it. Also, look at the article above. It's World of Warcraft. Trust me; World of Warcraft really did push the medium forward. It ushered in a whole new audience of MMORPG players.

Wow, why so many insults to Jonathan Blow? I mean, I never met the guy, and none of us probably did, so how can you guys say those things? You know what I think it is? Jealousy, that's what it is. That's why there's so much hate. He's a successful game designer and none of us here aren't. He's got the talent and resources to make a game like Braid and most of us here will never be able to have that opportunity or talent. I admit, I get jealous to, but I don't insult them. Like the Udon guys who draw incredibly well. I'm jealous of them because they're super-talented artists, but I don't talk down on them or anything. I praise them and look up to them and feel inspired. And yes, I get jealous and depressed because I can't draw like them, but I don't insult them or hate them for it. You guys got to chill.ASK_Story
Do you dislike Hitler for what he did? Would you try to defend him if some Jew was throwing insults at him?

What a douchebag. 11.5 million people play World of Warcraft. Not even half that amount will play Braid.

wow, he seems like the mentality of a douche No, games don't aspire to be art, they just end up being it. The difference between Halo 3 and his game, is that Halo 3 is actually fun... and is longer than 2 hours. Honestly, Braid is no better than the boodles of flash games on newgrounds

I think the Giant Bomb review of Braid put it nicely: The whole theory of making a good game should be making it fun to play. If it's art, it's a bonus. I hate games that are art but not fun to play. So in general, here's my message: Are games art? They can be, but they should be fun at the same time.

Whoa another Blow insult thread?! What's wrong with these guys. I can't even imagine even being mildly jealous of him and I want to have some successful XBL games myself.

It was a puzzle platformer thats a start. But then its a puzzle platformer with puzzles based around time, where you can never really die only need to rewind time but yet still have arguably challenging puzzle. Also it has a pretty unique art style and soundtrack but to top it all off it has a storyline, a deep storyline that confuses you and can be intepreted in all sorts of different ways even to include the gameplay with an ending that just blows most peoples minds. Man there aren't many games that do that but a platformer?

Have you played Braid? I just want to make sure you're saying that because that's what you think, and not because of fanboyism, because Braid is just....the story is incredible, and I love how the way you mess with time changes with every world, making you think differently every time.

That's actually the first time I heard Braid's story being praised. Man do I love games with time travel and great stories (puts Braid higher on list)
It's overrated, and the guy that made the game is a cocky tool.DeathScape666
I should have know that it would be DeathScape who throws the first blow at Johnathon Blow. lol

Uh, I like to answer for sheep, even though I'm a shemming now I guess.

I played the Braid demo. It was pretty cool. I see how it could require some serious thought at times. I prefer World of Goo though.

i own a ps3...ive seen some braid in my day :P...

Yeah its cool. I think GS review is OVERRATED. Am i jealous that its 360 exlcusive? No....If it was on PSN, would i buy it? Most likly.

Fact is, its just another game. A game that is easyly replaced by another. I mean look at halo for example. Many ps3 owners were like "AWW MAN" But then cod4 came out, and no one was like "man i wanna buy me a xbox for some haloz".

Same for MGS4, my 360 fans were jealous...but a few months later...the hype ran out...

A game is a game. IF you dont get to play it...whatever..

You win some you lose some, thats life.

Agreed, it's not fun. Just a challenge.
