I would have thought that $29.95 was the right price. Just wondering if Cows are going to rush out and download it at this price.

Well, for a multiplayer only game that you can download (meaning, it probably doesn't have 40 maps or anything like that), I would say that $29.95 seems more like a better price for something of that nature. This is why I had ZERO intention of buying Shadowrun. $59.95 for a multiplayer only game with a limited number of game modes and maps is a ripoff. $39.95 is better, but still a bit too high.

Oh, and have YOU played the game? How else can YOU make the statement "its certainly a great price for a game of its value in my opinion."???

There was a beta a while back. It ran around the time of the Halo 3 Beta, give or take a week.

I've played it extensively, and I think it is an excellent game. However I will be getting the bundle just because it's the better value IMO.

Well, you can play a beta or a demo and geta sense for the game, the controls, etc., but I don't think you can assess VALUE from them. The value in something like this comes from the number of game modes, maps, etc. - all which translate to longevity. $60 for something you play through once isn't a great value. $60 for something that you put hundreds of hours into is. Thus, why I asked him if he's played the full game or not - the only way you can truly assess the game's value and whether it is worth $39.95.

I can easily make that statement since i'm very interested in this game, and the amount of gameplay variety it offers. Add 20$ for a measly 8 hour single player, i think not. Thats more of a rip off.

I don't understand what you mean. PS3 owners aren't paying for content, they are paying for the game itself. Personally I will pay for this game. I had a lot of fun playing the beta. Just because a game is online only doesn't make it a bad game.

Buying downlodable content is totally different to buying a fully fledged game. I think the price points are good for both versions although ill be getting the downloadable version as i already have a sweet headset. If gears of war was released on both Dvd and the Xbox store for $39 and $59 would that be unacceptable?

Hell no that wouldnt be acceptable. The price would need to be the same across the board. Unless the Xbox store version had 40% less content than the dvd version.

yes but the original question was "is $39.99 a good price for the GAME itself?" No one else was talking about DL content and its true that charging for maps n stuff that could be free is bs but what can you do.

I played the beta for almost two months straight (many, many hours) and i can't wait to play again. Personally, I haven't had that much fun online since Socom 2, and for me that's saying a lot. And I think that the beta of this game was pretty much the full version.

Why would 29.95 be the right price...Have you played the game. Its certainly a great price for a game of its value in my opinion. Adrian_Cloud
I disagree. It's a watered down battlefiled clone with mediocre graphics and dodgy controls, at least in my mind. I think it's $10 too much, basicaly. $40 is too much for an impulse buy, and impulsiveness would be the only thing that would make me download this game. The on foot aiming SUCKS, and in the air it's a skill-free lock on missle fest.

Then again, I'm not exactly what you would call a 'cow.'

[QUOTE="REVENGEotSITH"]I would have thought that $29.95 was the right price. Just wondering if Cows are going to rush out and download it at this price.Magical_Zebra

Cows made it perfectly clear that paying for content= getting owned. Is it a double standard now?

With Sony fanboys, it always is.

what exactly are you trying to prove?grayfox_2k

Nothing. Just that cows "claim ownage" on the lemmings for paying for dl content.

totally pointless so far...grayfox_2k
Thats your opinion. Mine is that its not, see how that works?

let's not talk about optional charges and go off topic plz.grayfox_2k
Um. This is in reference to the game itself, how is that off topic?

ur constant attempts of getting cows "OWNED" makes u look pretty fanboyish urself

grayfox_2k
Can you honestly say to yourself that I actually care what you think about me? Point of the matter remains, I think for the amount of maps and the price its a very sweet deal for the game. Before you countinue to "OWN" yourself, I suggest you look at my profile before calling someone a fanboy.

they've ALWAYS maintained a double standard.... this is nothing new....

this kinda of blows for them.. paying that for a game w/o being able to trade it in when you're done.....

alex77k

I think this is my first "fanboy" statement in the boards, here it goes:

Not every game is meant to be played once and be traded... cough....Gears of cough war...

Your fanyboy statement fails with flying colors. If you buy a game, then trade it in, I dont need to tell you who just got owned, and it aint the store you bought the game from.

Sheep shouldn't talk considering they are getting raped on the VC prices. Lems shouldn't talk because they are paying for desktop themes and avatars.

Warhawk is a full game not downloadable content.

Back to the original question i will be buying the game im not sure though because its a great deal on that wireless headset your pretty much getting for $20. Also I think that $40 is a good price seeing as its pretty much the same stuff as ut2k4 + bf2 for the pc and those were $50 when they came out.

I think $40 is okay for a multiplayer-only game. Definitely makes Shadowrun look completely ridiculous.

It never pays to trade it in. Better off selling it to a friend and getting far more then gamestop offers. They'll give you 25 for gears and turn around and sell it used for 56. Barely even a discount above SRP.

I'd pay that much for the game, I'd even pay for the retail set considering it comes with an expensive headset.

So true. I haven't traded in one game since I got an ebay seller's account. You will get ripped off if you trade to EB or GS, that much is a guarantee.
