The series isn't "meh."
Obviously, you haven't beaten MGS3 to have said that. Some mere playtesting at a buds isn't judgement enough. Do cows overate the game? Perhaps.
However, it is going to be a hell of a game, and I know this because I played all of Kojima-sans games, and they are awesome.
I hate the mgs series. Boring gameplay, that I can't stand. Never understoody the hype for stealth games. What is the fun out of hiding in a dark spot for 30 seconds, before the enemy turns his side on you?numba1234
Yup I hate Splinter Cell too oh wait you said MGS.

Thats like saying "whats fun about shooting people" or "whats fun about leveling up" and I could go one. Its called doing what you enjoy.

Yeah, you really have to like that stealth gameplay and the sometimes extended yawn storylines. It takes a certain type of person to really enjoy that game. It was all new and cool in the PS1 days but it's more of a niche game now. It's not even as popular as the Splinter Cell series now. Cows don't realize this, let's not burst their bubble.

LOL LOL LOL.. I smell a hardcore lemming fanboy. Obviously you weren't around when all the 360 fans were hyping MGS4 as well after hearing the rumor about it being ported to the 360. I've heard more about MGS4 love/hate than any other game coming out this year showing that it is more popular than SC series. SC debates aren't appearing anywhere other than MGS vs SC and people only go to that because they see MGS in the topic. You lose.

Well, It was one of the first types of games like this, a 3D stealth game. So I can see why it was popular. I think the problem is that it ahsn't really changed much from the first one, which is a problem considering it's been 2 generations since the first one, and all they've done is refine it without adding much, or adding tiny elements that don't really change the gameplay.you jsut mad cause its gonna own anything the 360 has. all you got is gears, cause 360 fans hated halo 3 for some strange reason.
I saw MGS 3 on the PS2 in $20 bargain bins within a few months. I saw lots of stores stuck with several overstock copies when it was new and priced at $50. Ask people who started gaming last generation, and what PlayStation exclusives stick out, and I seirously doubt the MGS series is even top ten. MGS is living off of past glory for everyone who ever played the first PS1 version. The series has been meh ever since. It's much like Gran Turismo. Was impressive back in the day but meh now. I think you meant to say that those who don't a PS3 don't care about MGS4.TREAL_Since
I think they do care.. Why? The TC is living proof.. why would you make this topic if you didn't care and all. Trying to bash the MGS series.. ohh and remember that MGS4 coming to 360 rumor where all the 360 fanboys made like a billion topics. Just about every gamer cares about this game.

You make a great point. At least I was trying to give him SOME credit. MGS4 will be beyond epic.

Yeah I know you did, and yes, it will be beyond epic, at least for me.
Cows overrate MGS? In that case every media person in the world as well as the majority (notice I didn't say ALL) gamers must be Cows then. Listen, MGS4's praise was never about what console its gonna be on, how many pixels it can push, or what innovative gameplay mechanics they are adding in.
The fact remains that MGS4 is being hyped because (and heres the shocker) it looks like it is going to be an amazing game. So good in fact that many people in the press think it is what will help the adoption rate of the PS3 increase more so than any price cut or game release in the console's lifespan has.
It is overrated because it is a big deal. Not only that but MGS has one of the most well received and praised active storylines within videogames as of this writing. It is amazingly well-written, detailed, and told and is one of the prime examples of videogames as a story-telling device. This entry in the series is marking the end of the storyline that the original MGS set out, and with it an entire generation of gamers are going to see the end of a game series' longest storylines.

It's THE most renowned stealth game in the world, i mean i loved DA and all Splinter Cells but IMO MGS is far greater than SC and im sure alot of people would agree

Not only should MGS4 live up to the hype it better surpass it because its claimed to be the second coming. If it doesn't reach that status, you could label MGS4 as one of the biggest disappoints in life.

The fact that you made this thread shows you care about it--in one way or another.
Hence, self-ownage served.

You didn't see MGS 3 in $20 bargain bins within a few months.
Please stop lying.
Im not exactly a royal fan of MGS series but I like it enough to beat the first and the second one. I know that MSG isn't always about realism but Snake Eater is just plain stupid. First they took the radar away while you can't even see what's in front of you. Then, they gave you the over shoulder cam but the fact that you need to change clothes every 3 steps is just super annoying and who does that anyway?
I hope MSG4 is all it needs to be and Im looking forward to it.
Wasnt MGS a 10million plus seller, it got high praise and is still a revolutionary influence on lots of other games? Didnt MGS 2 blow everybody away with the graphics, hype ect. and it scored something like 9.6 here on gamespot? Isnt MGS 3 quoted on gamespots forums as being one of the most emotional games ever? Hasnt the series maintained an epic and story driver cinematic experience consistantly?
I guess its just trash and 10's of millions of fans have poor judgement. Personally i think your missing out, but whatever dude. Im buying MGS4 day one, and im sure 100s of other gamespot members are too.
