You say XBOX is missing games like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Warhawk, and Ratchet and Clank, MGS and FF??? LOL!

LOL! Heavenly Sword 8.0 barely a AA, uncharted not out, warhawk 8.5 AA, ratchet and clank not out yet, MGS not out yet, FF not out yet

So XBOX 360 is missing games? How can it be missing 3 games that arent even out yet? and a cuple of barely AA games? please dude your just like the rest of the cows around here just in denial.

You guys are missing out on games like Gears (9.6), (Halo 9.5), Kameo (8.7), Bioshock (9.0), Dead or Alive (8.8, Forza/PG4-5/Burnout (9.2, 8.8, 8.8, all different styles of racing), Command and Conquer, Alien Hominid, Dead Rising, Viva Pinata. And then a bunch of AA and some AAA shooters that I didnt even mention.

And those games are out now that the PS3 doesnt have. To make a list of stuff that the 360 is "missing" you can only name future titles. if i name games that arent out how about Mass effect (lock AAA), Ninja Gaiden 2 (lock AAA), Fable 2 (high AA or AAA), Gears 2 (lock AAA-AAAA), World in Conflict (got 9.5 for PC). Plus games that havent been announced or some that people dont know about yetwhich look like they could be block busters Lost Odyssey, and Dead Space plus many more.

And what is all this crap about who cares about Forza? Because what GT5? Wasnt Forza 1 better than the last GT? Oh yeah it was.

Historically, the Playstation platform has had greater variety than competitor platforms. Though that may change this generation.

Xbox 360 still needs a stronger jrpg and action/adventure lineup; Playstation 3 needs a strong wrpg lineup.

Microsoft has twice the install base at this moment due to a one year headstart, and judging by their current and future portfolios, Sony's library is nevertheless on par if not more diverse than the 360's.

Nintendo is the current market leader, but it is going in a whole different direction.

I'll acknowledge that.

Though I should note that from a platform holder's standpoint, diversity is good, but only if the types of genres you're diversifying into help you move consoles. I've yet to hear of an RTS game that's really helped shift units of a particular console. Of course, World in Conflict on 360 and Halo Wars could change all of that.

At the moment.

In four years' time, will the situation be the same? How about in two years' time?

When evaluating the console race, we have to look at the macro picture. The fact of the matter is that Microsoft will most likely be unable to penetrate the Japanese market. For the big budget jrpg's on the high horse powered machines, Japanese gamers will choose the PS3. And the developers will follow.

As for the jrpg lineups extending through 2009, I would certainly not call Lost Odyssey/Blue Dragon/Infinite Undiscovery better or equal to Final Fantasy XIII/Final Fantasy Versus XIII/White Knight Story.

Nonsense.

I'm not going to do "list warz" because thats for children, but there is no way anyone can tell me with a straight face the PS3's lineup is "better". Having a few hard hitters is irrelevant if the competition can match them blow for blow then swarm you with sheer volume.

The X360's library puts a strong emphasis on shooters, because of the consoles demographic, but if you look closely there plenty of everything. The PS3 at the moment has a lineup thats average at best, and as a gamer with no vested interest in almost every franchise, its easy the see the X360 is the "must have" console in terms of games.

Nobody is arguing that at the moment, the 360 is the console for gaming.

But the PS3 has a big future and in the end, the diversity in its titles is only gonna make MS work harder to secure bigger games for their own system.

I think PS3's upcoming games are very diverse. The only problem I have with Sony is that I'd like them to try and secure more big exclusives (when I say that I'm looking directly at GTA).

The PS3's future lineup cannot erase the work the X360 is doing now. Despite popular opinion around here, millions of people aren't going to buy PS3's for MGS. There are sales, many sales, that result from people buying the best for the console they own.

The PS3 will have great games, and will be an enjoyable experience to all that own one. I'm not going to dispute that, but a few magical titles do not a complete lineup make and theres a hell of alot of work on Sony's end to catch up. Considering the X360 will be releasing games for all of 08 theres a hell of alot of gap to close and no reasonable person can possibly think its going to happen, well, perhaps ever!

I don't understand the basis for your argument.

Go look at the sales figures for the opening GT/MGS/FF games for each PS console and come back to me. They're all massive because it's the first "next-gen" experience of that popular franchise.

And btw, I never said anything about PS3 "closing the gap". I completely expect the PS3 to overtake the 360, and not just get close to doing so. But hey, sales aren't as important as games, and both the PS3 and 360 have great titles to look forward to.

However, I think MS layed out its big guns for 2007, while Sony has kept all of theirs for 2008.

Lakers20004life

Uncharted, Little Big Planet, mGS4, GT5, FF13, UT3 (+mods), Burnout5 (best version so they say), Killzone2 (COME ON!!!), Heavenly sword (great game), God of War3 are great games.

you miss out on them by holding on to a misplaced loyalty to a company that just wants your money...

(same goes for hardcore cows>>> they miss out on great 360 games)

I never said the PS3's lineup was better. I said it was "on par if not more diverse than the 360", if we consider the sum of their current and future lineups.

At the moment--absolutely, I would say the 360's lineup is far superior to the PS3's. But that's a subjective assessment about superiority, not an objective assessment of diversity.

But what good is an amazing game collection when you can't play it?

Great console, I am so tempted to trade in my 360 and get an Elite and buy Halo 3 but it will probably just break on me again.

The Wii is 250$, when the PS3 is that price...the will will be like 100 and the 360 will be about 150-200....more than anything, price determines console sales...its why they sell so much 3-5 years after they come out...they shouldnt ever be over 250..(the wii should be like 100 now)

I'm waiting for the first lemming who admits that it's the same ignorance they had last gen. Until then, it really doesn't matter who wins this gen - all that matters is having all the platforms you can afford to play all the games.

I'm bummed about ps3's losing right now, but I still own all platforms.

Cows will say anything to justify the fact that they basically spent 500$ on a console that has a few AA's. I think MGS4 and killzone 2 will really change things up a lot but im going to have to agree with the topic creator on this. You cows say that you got all the games when really all you have are a bunch of AA's and a few good looking games that might get AAA.

Not only that but every 9.0+ xbox360 game we get you guys shout the "OVERATED" when really you haven't even played them. You guys donteven have gears of war or halo 3 and what about all the future titles we are getting? IF Mass effect gets a 9.0 then what? That just proves that xbox360 is overloaded with AAA games and its only been about a year and a half.

PS3's variety is pathetic at the moment and your heavenly sword and warhawk are nothing compared to gears of war and halo 3.

I agree it needs more Jrpgs but action/adventure? What are you smoking? 360 gets DMC4 and NG2, the epitome of action adventure

if u get it from the historic point of view: the ps2 entered the console market before the xbox and won the system wars. now the 360 is first. u do the math...Fruuky

The Wii obliterated the 360. The math isn't so simple is it?

Don't sweat anything ppl here say because from my experence the only explanation can be that each individual post comes from some sort of alternate universe where the PS3 is good, the 360 only breaks for people that don't post here and the Wii is still fun after the first hour of ownership.

Sony did have two mistakes, I don't think they will repeat them for the next-gen.

First mistake is making a launch after one year head start for the not expected competetion, I don't think there would be a competetion if PS3 was released with 360, all developers would prefer putting their money in PS3 ( Specially Capcom).

second one is, the weak lineup of launch games, I know RE:FOM and Motorstorm are great games, but this is not the type of games Sony releases.

EDIT: I forgot to answer your question, Do PS3 have variaty?

Yes, Do 360 have something like Uncharted, MGS4, R&C and FF XIII, FF Vs XIII? No.

Why are Lems so damn angry nowadays? I've seen 3 anti-cow threads only on the first page. Take it easy. If you believe in your system you don't need to bash everything in your way.

LOL! Heavenly Sword 8.0 barely a AA

Which is a worthless comment in on itself because the Playstation brand has always been market leader, which means the best developer support.

actually, it hasn't always been market leader. what about the NES, SNES? it wasn't even until the PSX that Sony gained dominance. there will always be competition, and i can guarantee you that another system, not necessarily Microsoft, will surpass them.

Lakers20004life

I think you miss the point to an extreme degree. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the claim the PS3 has more variety. However, your rebuttal is similar to last gen when the lemmings responded to claims that the Xbox lacks RPGs by saying, "What? We have KOTOR and Marrowind, two of the best RPGs ever!"

Unfortunately, having two or three RPGs, no matter how good, isn't going to trump the thousand RPGs on the PS2. You can argue scores all day long, but ALL consoles need more than acouple token games in a genre to attractfans of those genres. As an RPG fan, I'm going to buy the console with the MOST RPGs...not the console with only two really good RPGs. THAT is what variety means.

I agree that right now the 360 has the best library with easily the most variety. But it still is terrible compared to the PS2, which has the best library (in terms of size and variety) in the history of gaming. Wherehave all those games gone this gen? The 360 is way better in terms of games than the Xbox, and the best this gen so far, but which console is going to be the "PS2" of this gen. So far it doesn't appear to be the 360.

I still think it has better variety, your post didn't do anything to convince me otherwise. Kameo is the only platformer I've ever heard mentioned for 360.

Burnout isn't an exclusive. C&C and World in Conflict would be better played on my PC. Ninja Gaiden is the only slash 'em up. Fable was a flop and 2 will probably overpromise and underdeliver too.

Forza better than GT? Heh. Maybe the scores take into account the competition (none) that the racing sim genre has on 360.

Don't get me wrong, 360 is at an all time high on my "buy me" meter, but I plan to mostly play shooters with aliens and space suits on it. It's not the one stop shop for fighting games, platformers, racing games, JRPGs, actioners, puzzle games that the PlayStation brand has been in the past. There's plenty of time to remedy this, but until then Kameo being the only platformer isn't saying a lot for the diversity of the lineup.

Sony seems to be focused on the world, while MS focuses on the States. It's not just the marketing campaign, it's who the content appeals to.
