If the PS3 and the 360 were to swap positions the 360 I bet would still be lurking in the 7 million region. PS3 even today just sells on brandname! (2007 was all about brandname and I get a feeling so is 2008)
I'm sure a lot of people buy systems out of brand loyality...
I admit that if Wii wasn't made by Nintendo, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. But then again, that same system wouldn't have Super Mario Galaxy and other first party Nintendo titles, so I guess I did have reasons, sort of.
That their first 6-7 million were mostly sales from people who just thought that the Playstation brand was 'The Brand' and for the blu-ray.ultimate_123
Or most people wanted to upgrade from the PSOne or PS2 to a PS3. You know, just like you did from the XBOX to the 360
Part of the reason I went PS3 actually, the other part was the RROD and the PS3 just had more of what I wanted in a system included.

Thats subjective, it had plenty of great games. Heck I recall MS fanboys defending their console because of Dead Rising until GEOW came out. I was never in need of games with the PS3 and it was also great for movies which is my other hobby.
Most of my friends who bought PS3s didn't even know what Blu-Ray was. That kind of proves this thread to be wrong... (Btw they all bought PS3s in its first week of release)
