don't know why the ps4 version is being singled out, sure it will run just the same on the xbox.

It has probably something to do on how the game was designed and they couldn't just unlock the fps without breaking stuff or heavily changing the code (which we know they won't, it's crapcom), i know some lemming in here are completely ignorant of course and will make some bullshit but if this is the issue it will affect every system except pc probably.

It's probably the case that the game only utilizes a single CPU core just like the original GameCube version. So instead of changing the code so it takes advantage of modern console CPUs Capcom opted for dat cinematic 30 FPS lock.
It's because the next gen consoles are weak. They should just match the game resolution/frame rate to last gen specs; sub 720/720 games and 30fps. That way they can ramp up the quality, trying to achieve 1080p/60 on either Xbone or PS4 so far has been a huge failure, and the more they try to force it the more people are going to want it as standard. Best to just lower everyone's expectation when it comes to resolution/frame rate and use the resources on improving textures, models and anything else.

The sound quality was just awfull, probably not even surround. And everything visually looks the same as the GC version running emulated on PC at higher resolution. It's probably the boss at Capcom who have done the porting job, or the financial advisor. But, I may be getting it anyways :p, I am a Resident Evil fan, can't help it.

its a remaster what the hell did u expect. looks good to me + releasing on more platforms allows everyone to enjoy the game **** gamecube
Still looks better than playing it on PS1. For a second just seeing the headline I was alarmed, like it was going to be another Tetris Ultimate issue with unpredictable mega-lag and unresponsive controls. Thankfully that's not it.
Most dips appear (as far as their counter for framerate is concerned) appear to happen at the moment the camera changes shots. From the looks of it the gameplay framerate (as far as counter is concerned) seem fine. Most cuts produce a 26fps - 28fps instance, I think there was one camera angle change that produced a momentary 16fps for a brief instance but the animations before and after looked fine.
I don't quite get how they determine framerate though, is it just the signal output to the monitor/tv even if it's reproducing multiple imagines? Because if that's the case the animations certainly look like a lower framerate than the counter suggests. Not that it really matters to me, it's adequate for a game of this type and I still want to play it. I'm just curious though.
First a question, how many fps did the original run? I am dead serious here, It might have fun 60 fps, but as far as I know most animations were done in sub 30? so in terms of movement of the game, the rest would just have been pointless filler (as unlike most people here claims, the animations will have to match the targeted fps or be dynamic, or they would look odd or outright aweful (like stopmotion aweful). It could have been in 60 fps, I really cant remember :\ If the original was 30 fps, then there really is no reason to complain (and yes this comes from one of those people WHO likes his 60+ fps).
Second. There is the possability that it IS an update off of the original game code, which only ran on one core, which since updated might cause some strain that the PS4 is not really designed for. So an issue might be with the source material. and the PS4 being made to be highly multithreated. In which case it may be a sign of baad Things to come with old ports (lifted off original code). But if the first RE game wer playeid in 30 fps then all this is a moot point honestly.

Yeah guys, what the hell did you all expect? Being able to play it at 60 FPS when the PC version is confirmed for 60 FPS? The technology just isn't there to get a 2002 game running at a high framerate on today's consoles.
My fucking phone would get better performance than this.
Actually your right, they managed to get Knights of the Old Republic onto phones.. With better performance and a better looking game..
Just give me Dragon Dogma Remastered version already Capcom. I already have Resident Evil on my Gamecube. I can play that Game anytime I want.
Yep lets continue the trend of absolutely no backwards compatibility to these "advanced" systems so people can rebuy games they already own with minor facelifts that pc mods do more for free, all while paying $50 retail..
Capcom used to be my favourite developer. Now they pull crap like this, charge you for new costumes and lock content on the disc you pay full price for behind a paywall.
I don't think 60fps is a deal breaker but on a game like this it's pretty poor form.

Game looks and runs great from rhis video. Dont see what the problem is. Who cares if it's in 60fps..... Are you benchmarking RE? No then there is no issue.

How many times do you people need to be told that the PS4 and Xbone use different CPU and GPU architecture compared to last gen. Both are now using X86 code, instead of the powerpc type code of last gen. You can't just make Backwards compatibilty like that. Hell the PC doesn't even have PS3 / Xbox emulators, what makes you think they can make them on the PS4 / Xbone? The PS2 emulators still even struggle on PC today with many games.. It won't be for another 5+ years that PS3/360 emus actually work.
All this ever was, was a cash grab, look at the likes of The Last Of Us and GTA5 they did wonders on titles which were already up to scratch and made them better, I mean Resi one could of been made exactly the same, but with better backgrounds, 60fps is not much to ask and for the people saying it doesn't matter, of course it matters fps doesn't just make it faster it makes it all that smoother with smoother characters and smoother backgrounds, CrapCom are desperate and this is the rubbish they throw out now, If they really wanted to do a decent job, they could of redesigned the whole look of everything but keep the simple gameplay and backgrounds with the non moving camera angles, the whole thing could of looked amazing, could you even imagine playing resi1 with the graphics of The Order, not being funny but it wouldn't of been that much work, everything is already mapped out and every scene/room is just a still image in a sense, they didn't even have to work out how it would work with a 360' camera. it's a half arse attempt at gaining money off a name. jesus people would of bought a reboot of the series in the same mansion if done right, it's a great game.
if you guys read the fucking article rather than just commenting OMG WHY NO 30FPS then you would now that the game always had a sort of stutter in certain areas and it was on purpose and so they left that shit in the PS4 version DUH.
Specifically when the camera angle changes so you don't even see the drop.

I guess they lazy but RE is such a slow game with pre rendered backgrounds that i cant tell the different from 30 to 60.
I just tried REmaster for my PC, which is technically weaker than the PS4, yet my PC was running it perfectly fine at 1200p @ 60 fps (with maximum settings), with no frame drops at all. There's no excuse at all for the PS4 not to be able to handle 1080p @ 60 fps for this game.
