Of course they do...especially light beams.There is no reason to pull "stalker-crysis on high" on consoles...

Bad video but any video is always welcome. :D It seems abit unpolished at the moment with, severe pop in issues and stuff, but it's shaping up nicely. Lighting and particle effects look amazing.

Definitely,and all those explosions as well.And draw distance does not seem so small after all(1:27).Yes its bit unpolished(textures,pop ins,frame rate...)but still great,especially in comparison with March build from GDC.

gcp,yes.without per object motion blur and with better frame rate.This video is totally boring because there is nothing to do but it shows graphics pretty well.They are going to add their AA solution on consoles till next GDC and with further optimization and polish it could,in the end, be best looking console game.We will have to wait and see...

I think it'll be up there, but the animations look really bad so far. Crytek will without doubt iron out all the kinks. Remember, this is only 1 section of the game. Wait until we're exploring Central Park, and jumping from Skyscraper to skyscraper.. :D

I had 360 that just got broke(laser),i had my 3yr old computer and I was to buy new one this fall for Crysis but did not since its canceled,waiting for holidays to get it :P

PS3 is also going to be mine before Crysis 2 comes...for now im playing friends ;)

Is it me or is your DP getting more and more compressed? And yeah, the animations look strange, that hunchback pose on the aliens and the US soldiers makes them look really stupid, even though their AI is really good.

If this game was set in the same setting as the first all you guys would be Zlike OMG graficks king. The fact it is in a city now people say it does not look as great as Crysis1. Guess what, i thought Crysis 1 in the aircraft carrier looked like crap on high while indoors. What i'm saying is, the PC version of Crysis 2 will look better than Crysis 1 overall. About the footage.. it looks freakin great for a 360 game..it looks as good as GEARS 3 and RAGE.

Actually they should have quite alot of knowledge since they hired some hi profile ps3 programmers along with starting to researching the console tech in early 2007.

If only this new engine could replace the Unreal Engine in some way so we don't see so many games looking almost the same. I know there talented devs that have done miracles with UE3 like Ninja Theory with Enslaved but god...

They are going to attempt to combat with it. Crytek have been pitching their engine like crazy to devs with all their demonstrations of the engine and sandbox and the quick creation to consoles.

And enslaved is just using the updates with unreal, namely the lightmass.

i know they use dynamic GL but those lightbeams at 0:05 are quite obviously static. The illumination can still be rendered dynamically on static light sources.

Huh, DP? Yeah, I hate how the aliens runs, but when they pounce, and the way they march looks badass.

Nope, you can see that it the beams arent coming from the individual slits, its just a prerendered volumetric material using an effect. similar to this. There is also that both cryengine 2/3 only render sun/light shafts off of the main light source( Sun/Moon) using them on every light source would be too taxing especially for consoles and those werent illuminated from the moon.

There have also been tech demos in the past showing them using a projectedtexture statically built into the level( another lighting type) but cryengine 3 still supports its GL system to be unified between the dynamic and static lights.

If this game has aspirations to be the best looking console game it has ways to go judging by the video. Only thing i personally found above average was the lighting (despite plenty of objects not reacting to lighting/casting shadows). This looked like MW2 without targets to shoot at and it was still choppy (hoping it was the video source) and lots of texture and object pop-in. Other videos i've seen in the past have painted it in a better light though i must say. Am i the only one in this thread that thinks GeOW 3 is progressing better and faster visually speaking? Six months isnt THAT long of a time frame to make substantial improvements (though it is certainly possible). 20 rupees says this game gets delayed... and dare i say maybe even to 2012 (for consoles).

Either these guys or the Rage guys (can't remember which) said they wanted to show their game at its worse first. That doesn't mean that the ps3 version is better, but at least the same. Of course, that's if I have the right guys in the first place.:P

Either these guys or the Rage guys (can't remember which) said they wanted to show their game at its worse first. That doesn't mean that the ps3 version is better, but at least the same. Of course, that's if I have the right guys in the first place.:P

But usualy Developers show the best version during Preview Videos when it comes to these multiplats on consoles, thats why we see them mostly demo on 360. Thats whats making me think the PS3 versions isnt as good, atleast right now.

Gamecubepad, the screenshots that you posted; were those from the 360 build or pc? If those are from the console version, that's quite impressive. Lots of impressive detail in the environments. The liquid flames in the second shot looked awesome.


i thaught of that too. The shots are impressive if they realy from 360 build which am sure off.

from that distance you cant really tell how good it looks..tbh.. isnt there a direct feed of that vision somewhere?

Since the ps3 is more difficult & requires more time to progame for am sure the ps3 version will even have more issues than this. :( I dont think any dev/publisher would want to embarrase themselves by showing the worst version of their game/product so am sure for now the 360 version of crysis 2 is the better console version to display **for now**

Ive learned never to assume Devs are going to fix whats wrong with the PS3 version before release.
