artistically is all opinion. from a technical standpoint, crysis is king and will be for...ohhh 15 seconds (rate of progress in games and hardware and all that :P).

however artistically, imho at least, okami look alot better than every next gen game u care to mention...and thats on PS2. okami is just so beautiful to look at and a pleasure on the eyes. i cant think of a single game among the wii, 360 and PS3 that looks as good as that game from an artistic point of view...and itll probably be a very long time before one pops up.

You can disagree all day, that doesn't make you right. Art is something thats defined by unifying motifs expressed technically. Just because something looks better doesn't make it art. Thats not to say it looks bad persay, it may be more aesthetically pleasing. Art is an entirely different beast. Take a look at the game Saboteur, it represents a unifying motif: Film Noire: That is art. Eternal Sonata, isn't. Just take an art appreciation class in college to learn these basics.Vandalvideo

... so are Photographs outdated? Is film outdated? They are also "Unoriginal" ... seriosly, realistic is never un-original, until the day where it mirrors real life, if ever.

And you havnt even played Crysis, Halo 3 is just Halo 2 with "Shiny pigmy aliens" a shorter singleplayer and 10x worse Multiplayer maps....

Bioshock is just System shock with shiny Unreal 3 effects anda different theme ... dumbed down so that a 2 year old could complete it.

We could twist this all day.

achieving realism is a little more ambitious than style, but i still respect vivid games

Cel-Shading is less resource intesive then putting up and placing textures all in the right place, so no, Eternal Sonata does not defeat Crysis in the technical standpoint.

At an artistic standpoint...it's up to the gamer to decide which one he/she prefers...after all, art is subjective.
