What does Crysis do that no other game has?SpruceCaboose

non linear level design, no stupied boring you have to go this way be cause we say so. the nano suit is awesome, where else can you go invisable, then have super strenght then run as fast as a car and then have strong armor? and that's just the start

Crysis will set the bar for the FPS genre. It is not revolutionary, but it ramps everything up to the 10th power. Well, I think the physics are revolutionary, but gameplay wise, its an evolution of the genre.

Stop whining because you bought a 8600GTS and expected to run it on high, that was not a smart move at all.

Anyways, revolutionary...no, but I do think Crysis will set the quality bar higher for future FPS to come. After I play Crysis, I can imagine it will be hard for me to go back to sub par linear shooters again.

I don't get the hate for linear shooters. Linear shooters have many pro's over sandbox shooters and vice versa. It's the devs choice to help get the feel of the game right, can you imagine what a sandbox Half life would be like? Not very nice. One is not superior over the other.

Crysis is great BTW. I had a few doubts with the demo but I've got a feel for the game now, and I love it.

I can easily imagine what Half-Life with less linear gameplay and more free-roaming would be like, because I played it: the last section of Episode 2. And it's very, very nice.

Ah yes, forget about that bit. Either way, I'm just saying being linear doesn't mean a worse game, like most poster seem to be getting at.

I was personally saying that Crysis could influence shooters to veer away from the corridor-type with linear gameplay, but I wasn't trying to diss them. One of the games I'm most looking forward to is F.E.A.R.'s sequel, Project Origin. And F.E.A.R. is one of my favorite shooters. Those types of linear shooters are perfectly fine, and excellent for what they are.

I think games like Half-Life could do more, though. The last part of Episode 2 is the best bit of any Half-Life I've played, so I hope to see that Episode 3 is similar in design. I've always thought that Half-Life was held back by its relatively archaic gameplay, especially Half-Life 2, which didn't really change too much from Half-Life 1 in the gameplay dept except for adding the gravity gun. And it's especially noticeable since basically everything else about the HL series is at such a very high level.

I just watched on the spot and it is by far the best game i ever seen, the gameplay is there , the phyhics are beautiful, rreplay value looks high, way better then that generic FPS, this game is a big contender for GOTY, i dont like hermits for their cockiness but i`m really thinking on investing a pc,where should i start off?TheJuiceyBar

Ask the PC hardware forum. It really helps.

It will 'revolutionise' for its technical prowess, but that is about it.

Though it will be a kickass game.

I cant wait to buy a 8800 GT + UT3 + Crysis = Bioshock after exams. Im going to be in gamer hevean.

Actually it was Tribes 1, 2 and Operation Flashpoint that influenced shooters to make wide open, non linear enviroments. From these games spawned Battlefield ect. and Further down the line Far Cry.

It was awesome but HL is a linear tight FPS at heart.

While I love the idea of non linear sequences, a whole non linear HL would not feel right.
