Crysis scores a 98% from PC Gamer Magazine!!! *GOTY Confirmed*

Although I personally believe Crysis will meet it's hype, I think you should be pretty cautious with Gamespot's reviews. They arent afraid to be the odd man out nor are they afraid of flopping games.

If true, this would be the highest rating PC Gamer has ever given out. No small feat.

I don't doubt it though, the demo is stellar.

Tie for the highest actually. HL2 got a 98... assuming this is from the US mag... :/ It is certainly possible it is the holiday issue, but once agian, that isn't due out to subscribers for another 3 weeks let alone store shelves for over a month... :/

Did PC gamer review it on a $5,000 PC. :lol: Even then if they played it in DX10 on very high settings they got less than 30fps I bet. :lol:

you haven't heard of the 8800gt have you? $200 and 30fps maxed out in dx10@1600x1200 (more than you presious halo could ever hope for)

Obviously not the US magazine seeing as the big review for the december issue was Hellgate London. Crysis won't be reviewed in the US PCG till the january issue :/

Anyway, why does it mean GOTY if Crysis gets a 98/100 in a PC gaming magazine? I'd like to see a wider range of scores, in more than just a magazine dedicated to PC games.

Nothing is ever "GOTY Confirmed". But getting a 98% in PC Gamer is HUGE. They're are extremely tough on their reviews. The highest score they've ever given was a 98%, which was to HL2........

PC Gamer used to be the best gaming magazine on the planet, but nowadays it's a complete joke. It lost all of it's best writers long ago. The head writer these days is the guy that used to review the hardware. I don't think PC Gamer has any credit these days.swamprat_basic

Uhhh...yeah. That's why I said the magazine is crap compared to what it used to be. The magazine's writing is complete garbage these days. It used to be great.

Well, it's a long review and having given it a 98, you can imagine that they didn't say too many bad things about it. I will give you the opening paragraph, however:

"Cyrsis has ruined me. Let's call it the 'Cyrsis effect' - how am I supposed to go back to playing excruciatingly linear, stupid-AI-having, plastic looking, videogaming -y shooters, now that I've experienced the next evolution in PC gaming? In a perfect world, gamestores everywhere will open at midnight to host Halo-3 ****launch parties celebrating the release of Crysis on november 16th. Government will crawl to a stop; companies will report an unprecedented number of sick workers; exams will go untaken; fathers will ignore their daughters; and the nation's pizza delivery industry will experience its best day since the super bowl.
