Some people say that Crysis will destroy console gaming. Will it? No, just no.

Pc games don't sell. If you add up ALL 1m + sellers on the PC through all times, you get about 150 million copies of games sold.

The PC has trough all times sold 125milliom games.

That's nothing.

The gamecube which was the least selling last gen sold over 50m (according to WIKI) (I know it says 207m, but it doesn't state anything like that on PC so 1m +s only.

those numbers are bogus. There's no way pc games sold only 120million copies. SIMS franchise alone has sold over 50 million, Age of Empiires: over 20 mln, Command and Conquer: over 25 millions, Myst : over 15 millions, WoW: over 10mln. Those games alone are already over 120mln copies

PC gaming is worth 4,5 billion $s a year, assuming a mere half of it comes from videogames it means there are at least 50 millioon copies of games sold each year for PC. So really. Crysis won't have much trouble selling 2+ million copies, considering Far Cry (without any decent marketing campaign) sold well over million copies.

I would just like to point out one major flaw in your argument. It is a well known fact that sales figures only show boxed sets sold. These days digital downloads are very common in pc gaming. These sales as yet do NOT show up in sales figures.

Knowing this you should realise these figures are inacurate.

Of course console games on the whole do sell more than pc games, we already know this. It is why i love pc gaming so much. We tend to get unique and new games, kind of a test bed if you like. Consoles get remake after remake of old games.

Sales mean nothing, im sure games such as oblivion sold more on console than on pc, yet we get to have mods which make it 10x better. Gears on 360 will definately sell more than pc, yet we get better graphics and more content, bioshock is another.

Sales mean nothing, nothing at all. Crysis will sell well, it will eventually come to console and use the pc hype its recieved to sell very well on console. The fact remains though you will get a watered down inferior version of crysis, just like xbox did with farcry, HL2 and doom 3.

Discussing PC game sales is kinda fruitless, since I doubt there is any source that tracks all PC game sales. Most sales charts only include retail sales, and usually only in USA or NA.

Anyway, generally speaking I think the console titles sell better, Sims, WoW etc. are kinda exceptions. But PC also gets a lot more games in a wider area of genres, so maybe that evens up the scale a bit.

But according to Wiki(which isn't a reliable source in this matter tho), PS3 has Resistance in 2mil and Motorstrom in 1 mil, while PC has C&C3, Oblivion, Bioshock, Bruning Crusade and some other well selling games, so yes, I do think that PC sells more games(atm) than the worst selling console(PS3).

Pc will be forever. I don't understand why people who can't afford one or their old one is to old and they have no money to upgrade with instantly turn to trying to put PC gaming down.

Crysis will do well enough on sales to justify the production costs of the game. I also only care about what games I will enjoy and to tell you the truth we shouldn't be wondering why it won't sell but rather pity and feel sorry for those who can't play this master piece that will soon be released.

I love PC gaming... I love it more then anything else. But if we're talking about sales then consoles will sell more games in the long term. Piracy IS a big problem...
