yes...but with a heads up. if your expecting a halo or killzone type shooter then get another game. this game demands forward thinking and planning before attacking the enemy...especially on the harder settings. running in and shooting everyhting and taking the odd bit of cover will lead to alot of dying and alot of frustration. but its an ace game..well the first 2/3rds of it anyway. i dont want to spoil it but the last 1/3rd of it is pretty meh.osan0I like games with a little strategy ;D
I used zero stratedgy and breezed through it. Dudes just stand there and take it in the face.
this is about how threatening they are:
Even if you can only run it at medium its an amazing game. The gameplay is solid as it comes, and the shooting is very strong.
The story is nothing special, its your typical aliens invade earth, but its done quite well and has some cool cutscenes. The biggest flaw is the last 2 levels don't match up to the rest of the game but apart from that its great. Imo the best FPS of the gen.
Retail will have slightly better performance, though later levels are more demanding.lowe0
For me it's the final Boss level for both Crysis and Warhead.
The only other level that makes Crysis crawl is ---SPOILER ALERT--- the tremors/earthquakes in Awakening. Setting your in-game sound to Minimum will restore the lost framerates.
Thats the problem, all people talk about is the graphics and there's a crazy belief here, that all the game has going for it is the graphics.
But the game-play is really good, I love that suit.
i found the game boring. the sand boxy feel of the first half of it was pretty cool though. its also sex for your eyes if you can get the settings up high enough.
You played it on Easy and you played it like Halo. You had no imagination or impetus to challenge yourself. That game was not meant for you.I used zero stratedgy and breezed through it. Dudes just stand there and take it in the face.

lol, right. I go right to hard on every game. But, I'm used to human opponents, so AI just standing there doesn't quite cut it.

That's what of the lamest arguments I've ever heard concerning Crysis. The game is mighty fine in its own right, but it doesn't need the player to create any self-imposed inhibitions to make the game fun.
See, if you can run in and shoot everything in a level in Crysis, and it's the most efficient way, then by God, do it. It's much smarter than making it hard for your damn self.
No, the concept of thinking outside the square in Crysis comes from the fact that the game actually forces you to think outside the square. Sometimes it happens, and sometimes in doesn't, depending on whether the A.I is flawlessly executed or not, or if the level design is created in such a way that you have to exploit indirect approaches.
. Yes, I will totally go out of my way to pick up a chicken and constantly throw it at enemies to kill them .

Except, running and gunning is next-to-impossible on Delta, the difficulty level that forces players to approach the game differently from a traditional shooter.Figures that I would attract one of the most diehard Halo fanatics on the forums when I mentioned the game...

That wasn't your original argument, which was an argument that's been around since the Crysis demo. I think it spawned from the fact that you could blow up the GPS jammer in a variety of ways. "Thinking outside the box".
Crysis on Delta is a matter of using the suit powers to its strengths, and that doesn't necessarily mean it's different from a traditional shooter. Btw, traditional shooter =/= running-and-gunning, which is more a console thing.
Crysis is still about killing dudes, except on Delta you're cloaking, lining up a shot, killing an enemy, then getting back into hiding. Once in awhile you'll Rambo it and feel good until you have to take cover. It's not entirely different from playing Halo on Legendary or other games with similar difficulties. No One Lives Forever is less traditional than Crysis could ever hope to be.

You make a fair argument.I was mainly directing my comments towards lespaul1919, who has been frequently commenting that the game provides no challenge and is a cake-walk to get through. This is only true IF you play the game on its easiest setting and simply walk through the levels, mowing down North Koreans. At higher difficulty levels, combining the suit powers with the use of vehicles and destructible environments gives you more efficient and, in my opinion, fun ways to progress through the campaign.

Definitely, and perhaps the more non-linear approach and destructible environments exponentially increases the difficulty far greater than corridor shooters do on their higher difficulties.
I reckon the greatest single set-piece in FPS history is playing the graveyard sequence in Relic on Delta. It is one of the incredibly intense things I've ever experienced.

You can run and gun in Delta. I played the demo and the full game. I was well into Recovery before I even knew I was supposed to have a cloak. That's what Happens when I just jump right in without reading instructions. Then after that, I didn't realize I had a combat and sniper scopes until Awakening was almost over....again failure to read adequately the instructions.

You can't run and gun the second half.
Delta's a real challenge
TC, Go get the game and enjoy every second of it.
LOL wut?! Crysis a corridor shooter? :lol:If you only like completely linear, scripted, corridor shooters, just like pretty much every shooter on the market, then you won't like this game. You have to make decisions on your own, as opposed to blindly walking into the crossfire.
Hanass
It's definitely worth the buy. One of the best pc games of all time imo. I'd recommend you start the game on delta difficulty settings though as it's a lot more realistic.
I haven't played it myself, but it does seem to be the pinacle of FPS games. So if you're still into FPS games then I would say yes. Personally as someone who loved the genra, I now view it as garbage, the absolute worst genra in gaming. No other genra is as generic and recycled as the FPS (yes, not even JRPG's are as overused).
You can't run and gun the second half.Delta's a real challengemuzik_mafia
That's true. But that's also because resources are harder to come by from Core to Reckoning compared to the levels from Contact to Awakening. Regardless, I still find the original game very enjoyable..... besides Ascension that is. I have an utter dislike for that level.
Crysis Maximum Edition would be the one to buy.

Oh, now I feel bad :(not at all. but if you have a good pc its nice too look at and play around with
lespaul1919
Explain. It got triple A scores and yet it isn't worth it? It has brilliant gameplay too.

Crysis, overall, was a decent game. Nothing spectacular. I still dont know till this day what the rave is about the graphics. I prefer a lot of the triple A games on consoles over Crysis any day of the week. There are certain moments in the game that's hair raising in terms of production value, but besides that, there isn't much going for it. If you're just in it for the visuals, like I was.. then go for it. But be prepared to be disappointed in these days with GOW3, FF13 games that look better, imo. I played Crysis way back when it came out. So it's debatable.
