Man that looks freaking awesome. The lighting effects are amazing. I am curious as to know whether this game is being developed using UE3 as it's engine, cause there are quite a lot of textures on screen at once and a normal engine could not do all of that easily without strain on the system.

Killzone 2 uses it own new engine built from the ground up. Very impressive stuff.

do you know which engine is that? it's name, some characteristics? i got really curious.

I don't think they ever released the name. At least I haven't seen anyone say its name anywhere.

there was an article in the ps3 forums that had about a 51 page slide show giving key notes on how the lighting engine worked. It was pretty interesting, im not sure if you can find it but id definatly try.

wow this specific screen shot blows any other in game processing i have seen. the amount of details and things going on in this screen shot just shows the sheer power of the cell.

lol at you noob loops hyping the sequel to the biggest SW flop of all time. there isn't a single intruiging thing about this game other than it's graphics.

THETRUEDOZAH

As far as I know, there was never a sequel announced for Daikatana, so I'm sure nobody's hyping it.

:roll:yeah, cause i'm sure that game was hyped, as what, the dynasty warriors killer for a year before it's release? going to have to say that there isn't a hint of originality anwhere in the design of this game. Reminds me of the last-gen multiplat Snowbound, or Snowcrash, or Snowchutepantaloons, something like that.THETRUEDOZAH

You must be new to gaming, because Daikatana was one of the most hyped games in gaming history. It was literally hailed as the second coming.

I think this game will be very good.......people will just hate and hate on this game until it's released.

It wasn't enough for people that it got pretty darn close to that CGI trailer (which they admitted was CGI a couple days after it was shown so enough talk about it becuse it was 2 years ago jeez). Now they continue to bag it. I for one hope it gets AAA because I will have another great game and it will be the purest ownage ever. 3 years of hating that would have culminated into a blockbuster.

Snowblind, that was it. It's just funny to me that cows slam the 360 for having too many shooters when they go bonanza over KZ2 which is the typification of a generic shooter. THETRUEDOZAH

the only difference is that we really have quality titles coming to other genres. the 360 is lacking quantity and quality in various genres. even blue dragon is getting really bad reviews...

Daikatana hyped as a Dynasty Warriors killer? Do you remember the hype for Daikatana let alone what it is? And there are a lot of games with pretty much zero originality that are very good. No need for every game to be innovative.

nah, just new to system wars, really. Had an N64 but was mostly playing first party games by then. I think my only source of info I really paid attention to back then was Nintendo Power, so ... that floppage didn't really even register in my awareness vaults. it'sso long ago though... seems like it hardly even matters anymore. I mean, are diehard sheep and cows still throwing around daikatana ownage? at least the flop known as Killzone can still be used as ammo insystem wars

True, Killzone is four years up on the flop list so it does hit closer to home for most. Fair enough I guess.

And your not seeing normal maps in that, its all polygonal detail

Those character models have normal maps all over them.

It's pretty technical, and probably a bit hard to understand if you're familar with 3D graphics or deferred rendering in general.

"it's the second time a Killzone 2 trailer has ruined E3 - this time for making almost every other game look so terrifyingly ordinary."

100% agree

[QUOTE="Ibacai"]You know, I had no problems with the gameplay in the first KZ. It would have been a very good game if not for all of the technical problems.the-very-best

I didn't hate the original.

My main problems with it were that it just felt rushed, too many glitches, nothing really unique about the game. But I did really like the realism and the MP wasn't too bad.

Definitely a whole lot of room for improvement. Looks like GG is going to get it right this time.

i thought the first KZ was an alright game. the game was ambitious and showed potential and perhaps everything will be set right with KZ2.

i really like the gritty realism of KZ2 and hope they put their emphasis on gameplay and improve upon it.
