We Nintendo fans usually buy a new Nintendo system when a "core" Mario title gets released for it, so yes, it's a pretty big deal for us. ;)
Note that the New SMB series are a 2D sub-series and not regarded in the same fashion as a "proper" 3D Mario title.
and this is the reason in a nutshell why the WiiU is suffering
but hey if thats all nintendo fans want

Alongside other stellar Nintendo 1st party titles and some attractive 3rd party exclusives that would be it, yes. ;)
I don't want to play tonned-down multi-plats and stuff like that on a Nintendo system, rather I'd like exclusive and unique experiences not found elsewhere.
I don't mind if the game selection is smaller as long as it is attractive to me and keeps the quality high.
Simply put, I'd rather play one really good and well-polished game with lots of replay value instead of ten games that I would consider mediocre in every aspect.
