Essentially, Microsoft has increased the number of force feedback motors in the Xbox One controller, allowing for more subtle rumble in localised parts of the pad. In one FPS-style demo we played, a virtual hand held out a pistol. Firing the pistol with the controller's right trigger resulted in simulated recoil occurring on just that part of the controller.

In another demo, which had the same virtual hand magically spawn a fire ball, we could 'feel' the explosive projectile explode from the centre of the controller and out towards your fingers. It was an impressive effect.

Other demos better showed off the feature's application as a gameplay enhancement. One allowed us to start the engine of a supercar with the Y button, causing the Xbox One controller to cough and splutter realistically as the virtual engine sparked to life

In another section showing a close up of the vehicle's wheels, the controller pulsed to simulated bumps in the road surface, and then violently clanged as the anti-lock breaks kicked in.

I personally thought the 360 controller was far and away the best controller last gen. I used it for the 360  and the PC and personally hated whehen I had to use the Dualshock because I much prefered the 360 controller. From what I have read the design and the feel are the same for the most part but there are a lot of added improvments.

I much perfer 360's controller to PS controller and also used it for my PC games...but PS4 offered mock up 360 controllers so it was a non issue for me.

Loved the 360 controller, so I would love this even more. The d-pad looks way better.

I wonder why they chose to move the "XBOX" button. I'm not sure I like it "more" but the d-pad does look better. Although they fixed all that withthis one.

I prefer X1 new pad over the Ps4 one. The Ps4 pad just added a couple of pointless gimmicks. I will probably pick up the X1 controller for my PC.

It is symmetrical when you actually play games with it. You know, position of your left & right thumbs and all that stuffs. The opposite happens to the Ps3 controller. While I prefer the feel of the PS3 controller & its shoulder button, asymmetrical analog sticks is great as well.

I wonder why they chose to move the "XBOX" button. I'm not sure I like it "more" but the d-pad does look better. Although they fixed all that withthis one.

xsubtownerx

Pretty simple. To avoid accidental button presses. They even had robots on the MS campus which rigorously test for accidental presses. Anecdotally speaking I've hit that button plenty of times whilst going for back/start, and I have small hands.

Edit: I also have that twist-pad controller and I can assure you that (for fighting games at least) it honestly barely makes a difference. And it certainly does not fix the problems with the d-pad.

d pad looks very good, overall this looks to be a much better controller than the PS4, but still have to hear about the pS4 some more since PS4 says nothing about anything on their console.

that didn't fix the d-pad, it just made it so it LOOKED fixed. The problem is still with the shape of the circular thing under the cross, which wobbles like hell on both versions.

Improving upon perfection? Only with Microsoft.

Still kinda wish they went the WiiU route with a tablet controller though.

From a functionality perspective, fans will be pleased to hear that the much-criticised d-pad of the current console has been redesigned and now feels tighter and more accurate with buttons presses rewarded with a satisfying click. The analogue sticks too have had their dead zones minimised significantly, says Microsoft

The dpad looks much improved, bu the best dpad i've ever used is on the SF4 controller. The button like method such as the one on the SNES made the thumb sore after playing SF2T. On the SF4 controller, the whole dpad sort of rolls on a pivot.

I have always greatly preferred the 360's controller to the PS3's (mainly due to the triggers and location of the analog sticks). I think a couple minor tweaks would make it perfect. Hopefully, this one is just that (although if the Xbox One doesn't impress me, I won't need one).

It's a nice looking controller. 360 pad always seems to fit the hands perfectly, although saying that never had a problem with the DS3 either.

Nintendo already improved on the 360 controller with the Wii U Pro controller; It fixed the D-pad and moved the analog sticks up.

If they want to play local multiplayer they would; A lot of games use it already just not any 1st party games that I know of.

Even though you are a pathetic fanboy, I have to agree with you on this one! The XBone's controller will be and feel amazing! Touchpad and share button on the other hand are worthless.

I would have liked to see more features added to the controller other than the new vibration system, other than that it is a follow up to a controller that is widely considered great.
