D23: Kingdom Hearts 3 coming 2018 ~ Toy Story world announced + gameplay trailer

The new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 has dropped, revealing Toy Story as the newest world joining the series.

Tetsuya Nomura also confirmed that the game is set to release in 2018 (I'll believe that when I see it.)

If that was running at a higher resolution with some good anti-aliasing it would come scarily close to actual Toy Story graphics.

It's crazy how close the lighting and materials look to the films.

As for the release date...yeaaaahhhh... I'll believe it when I have a copy in my own hands :P

Yeah, it really took me by surprise how close it looks.

I'm also really hoping they get the voice cast of the movies back for this. They did do those shorts and TV movies, so I'm hoping they do this too. It's be weird hearing people other than Tom Hanks and Tim Allen voice Woody and Buzz.

The worlds so far have looked great and if 2018 is true I'm there.

I hope Nomura opts to present a good story in linear fashion within the open world as opposed to having open worlds with fetch quests 1,2,3,4 and the occasional 5 sec cut scene. I swear it all this gen has been so far...

Pretty sure the PS4 is more powerful than the '90s CGI farms that Toy Story ran on.

So they changed the release date? Before Square Enix said that it would come out after three years. If it does come out next year and not three years then that's good and we don't have to wait forever.

Kingdom Hearts is a lego game with better graphics. It is a kids game with AAA style graphics. I heard all the hype so I tried the first one and could not even finish it.

And people say graphics do not matter.

There is a HUGE difference between this game and Metro, Fallout, Halo, Gears or whatever.

This is a game for people that enjoy playing with Disney toons. No one is going to say it is some top tier gameplay or story. It is a AAA kids game.

It was kinda clear. It is a kids game. You are playing some "G" rated game with Donald Duck and other Disney toons.

It is a lego game with better graphics like I said. Attaching the Final Fantasy name does not make it adult.

Toy Story has always been the world I wanted them to add most and it looks movie quality. 2018 may just be the best year for gaming ever with RDR 2, KH 3, Spidey, God of War, Metroid Prime 4, etc.

As far as the Disney thing, I did enjoy it in my childhood but unlike you I am not in it anymore. My childhood was great but again I am not a child.

Halo is the kind of game designed for kids in a way to make them feel grown up. It had an undeserved M rating for so many years until they gave 5 the T rating it deserved. The games have no cussing, no real blood only fake green alien blood. The story is as simple as it gets.

Also you enjoy your manly man lineup of Xbox games on the way like Super Lucky's Tale, Cuphead, Sea of Thieves and Ori 2. Microsoft's upcoming lineup makes Mario seem like Die Hard by comparison.

You realize Kingdom Hearts has a far, far deeper story than any of the games you mentioned? Sure each individual world, mostly just replays some variation of the story from the movies, but the over arching story that connects it all, is one of the deepest and complex in all of gaming.

I don't like the combination of FF and Disney tbh, altough the gameplay was good from KH1/2, I just dislike the characters ALOT.

Would have loved a Toy Story game with these game mechanics instead of this.

If FFXII, a game from 2005, is the #1 seller in the UK right now I'm positive KH3 will set the whole world on fire. As long as it really drops in 2018 it'll definitely be GOTY. I can't wait.

If you walked into a room and saw a 40 year old laying on a bed holding two GI Joe action figures shouting "pew pew pew die Cobra" Would you think that is normal? No it is not. It is one thing to hold on to some of the childish belief of awe or wonder but to still act like a child as an adult that never grew up, that is immature. I am not a fan of C.S. This is a great game to play with the children but to play the game as an adult, then you are the child. This game is clearly not designed for mature adults since it is a simple story, simply combat, and involves children characters.

Do you know what decade this it? Games have moved past Pac-man and the average age for a gamer is 35. The general opinion of games has changed a lot. It makes more money then music and movies, so that is not just a bunch of kids buying games. Games are not frowned upon anymore.
