Sup people,

This is a PC and360 game which should be considered by anyone who likes Morrowind or Oblivion type games. This game didn't get the best reviews and many people didn't give it a try but i found it for $21 few days ago and i bought it. A cheap alternative to Oblivion i figured and I'm surprised at how much i looove this game! Below i will talk about what makes this game great and why i recommend it :D

How is this game played?

It's a first person game but not a shooter. It's in the old days with swords,Goblins and magic users. You see a word in your right hand and a shield in the other to put an image in your head. You can't switch to third person view.

Isn't this a game which is just a poor attempt at ripping off Oblivion?

Not at all. This game may look like Oblivion but it has it's own ****and you don't explore a massive world. In Oblivion players could wonder off for hours just admiring the world and not even following the main story line but this doesn't exist in Dark Messiah (DM). It's more action and story driven so you move from one scene to the next.

You can't explore a big beautiful world? Oblivion was good because it had exploring and fighting but the fighting was never anything special and with out exploring got boring...so DM would get boring with just fighting right?

You would think so but the fighting is actually one of the strong points of the game! It's about being completely involved and fighting feels very solid. You have different paths you go down like being a brute force with weapons type, magic user, archer, silent killer etc: You can attack with fast strikes or do power strikes which require you to hold down the left click button (PC) for a couple seconds and then releasing. You will learn to switch between both because the enemy is pretty smart and will parry or block your attacks with their shields. Power strikes can't be blocked so it's a useful tactic. There are another 4 power strike moves which can be done with any weapon depending which direction you are moving at the time but unlike Oblivion you don't have to keep moving in that direction to do say a side swipe. Tap for example left and at the same time prepare a power strike. Now you can move in any direction and it won't be lost (unlike oblivion where you have to keep circling the enemy).

It's how the enemy reacts to your attacks that bring the pleasure of playing this game. Do a side sword swipe from left to right and the Orc will stamble to the right. Swipe his face and he will stumble in pain holding his face for a moment. Boot him so he looses balance or just kick himdown the stairs. The physics are great so you can have a lota fun throwing em all over the place :) Combine sword attacks with booting to loose balance and magic and you got userself a good time.

Do you like blood???

This game has plenty of it! It sprays everywhere!! You see the blood on the enemy...the floor...all over your once clean weapon. It adds to the game nicely though because there is a great deal of satisfaction from slicing a head off a once powerful orc to bask in victiory.

GRAPHICS

Beautifull game with sexy visuals! Character models, water, fire, magic everything looks great and since you don't have huuuge environments your computer shouldn't have too much trouble running it. Smaller areas mean high detail and less strain on your computer.

Repley Value?

It's fun. You can choose to be a warrior one time and something different the next time through. Theres normal mode and hard to master.

COULD YOU TELL US MORE?

Ummmm let me think... uhhh NO! This took ages to write, lol. Anyway if you like Oblivion but want something more focused on

fighting and some nice blood for good measure then get this game now!!! I can't stop playing it and obviously i like it more then Oblivion (which i liked but DM is more fun).

Fix spelling mistakes if any?

NEVER!:)

I really liked certain parts of DM. I loved the magic system, and online counterpart was really really fun I thought. The physics system was great, but the story I thought was very contrived and cliche so that brought it down in my opinion. However, my only gripe was that the developers once again fall in to the trap of not making a magic user initially viable. When will dev's learn the only way to make a magic centric character effective is to make mana regenerate? Where did this idea that a depleting but non-replenishable magic supply was in anyway a good idea? It's not like I can only swing a sword 3 times before I get tired. Why can't I cast more than three spells before I have to start banging on people with my stick?

I enjoyed Dark Messiah, even if it was slightly flawed.

It probably deserved more than a 6.7, or whatever it got here.

Dark Messiah was a thoroughly enjoyable game. It was easy to get into, and it had some simple RPG elements that made character development good. But I wish the developer would of fleshed out better stealth gameplay. In any event, it was a very good game. I gave it an 8.8 in my Gamespot review. Many people had problems with the game being a little glitchy, but on my PC it ran fine.

On PC the graphics looked great, too.

The best part is, the game came free with my 8800GTX I bought last Jan.

If the price of the game is$20.00, that is a good bargain.

It didn't run very well at all on my PC, and I didn't like the controls either. When I saw it was being released for the 360, that made me a little more interested. It'll probably play better on a console and it should run better than my PC, so I may atleast give it a rent ;) Is it already out for 360?

I think that Dark Messiah had pontential that wasn't tapped thus making the game not so great. The story was pretty meh and you could see that the devs didn't put much effort in it either. The fighting should've been totally new but seemed like it was kinda unpolished or unfinished. The game also gave out the idea that sword and shield are the best choices for you to take actually. Magic seemed underwhelming, not because the spells were weak but because you ran out of mana so quickly. Daggers seemed pretty useless, probably because the stealth system wasn't well developed into the game and I personally took bow as to shoot enemies from far away until they ran to me where I took out my sword again.

I liked the original LEGENDS OF MIGHT AND MAGIC "The Counterstrike of the fantasy genre" , didnt try this one though ... LOMM community was very very small.

Medieival Shooters should be more common, its more interesting than the slew of "GUNZ LOLZ" we get today.

it was an good game, but it was filled with bugs and glitches, and kinda short, i saw all endings of the game, and played trough it 2 times, good game, nothing amazing.

and about oblivion, i think oblivion is one of the most overrated games of the past few years, but that dosent make Dark messiah better by any means.

I really like this game and i would love a sequal but i doubt it will happen. Also with the magic comments posted above it's very true..the magic is fun but u ran out of mana pretty fast. It's pretty fun though like the fire trap spell! I love setting them up near me and watching the enemy run straight in em hehe

Thge game deserved Higher reviews. Playing like Donkey Kong is win. Throwing barrels are fun, also the shovel is really rewarding if you get headshots with it.

I saw the end of this game on CHEATS one day and now I regret it because it is coming out for 360. I wonder if they will change any of the things people here have complained about. I remember it got major hype when it was first shown.

Well apart from the low mana issue with magic i have experienced no problems with it at all. No glitches or anything like

i did like DM ... but multiplayer god too repetitive, and the single player had low replay value ... (even if you changed skill tree it's not adding much of new fun)
