Dark Souls will be the best RPG this year, just like Demon's Souls was in 2009.

There isn't another RPG with the online feature that Demon's Souls has and the one that Dark Souls will have. This is a real game changer and those that have experienced the most unique use of online play ever will agree with me on Demon's and Dark Souls. The Bosses are also amazingly awesome, Dark Souls will be even better.

Skyrim will be better than Dark Souls, just like how FO3 and OBLIVION have way higher averages then Demon Souls.

I think the difficulty will push many people away from Dark Souls. Although, I do agree, Demon's Souls is one of my favorite games of all time.

Stop, I'm a Fallout fan but don't make me laugh, plus Dark Souls isn't guaranteed to lock up my console like Fallout 3 OR New Vegas. That's right, two games that freeze constantly.

I've had none of those games freeze my system, so I'm not really sure what you're going on about. I'm the last person to praise bethesda, but their games are far from "guaranteed" to lock up anything.

The only competition in 2009 was Dragon Age. The competition this year is The Witcher 2 and Skyrim. I doubt it will be better than either. :]Guppy507

But yeah, The Witcher 2, Skyrim, maybe even Guild Wars 2 complicate matters a bit for anyone expecting an easy win for Dark Souls.

A lot of you guys simply haven't tried Demon's Souls so you have no idea how Dark Souls will play. I don't blame your attitudes, but you're all praising games you're sure will do great because you've played their prequels.

I'm not stopping. Your opinion does not change the fact that Oblivion and FO3 outscore DS at metacritic and gamerankings.

So did Demon's Souls. GS' scoring rarely really reflects what people generally think or say about a game. Really, GS scoring is not that significant. Either way, I don't think your point really says anything.

Demon's Souls difficulty kind of pushes it into the category of niche title. If and when people start appreciating challenging games like DS than that sort of thing will change. Some love it, some hate it.

How so? It has looting, stats you have to upgrade, all kinds of cool items to find and areas to explore. It's even set in a medieval themed world, how is it not an RPG? What is it, a shooter? Does it have to be turn based to be an RPG?

You can't choose who to have sex with for example....

Candlemaiden? no sex.

Stockpile Thomas? You're gonna have to sleep alone.

Sex with Maneater? You wish.

Stormking? He's too good for your love.

Tongue action with Adjucator? Nope.

Hardly an rpg when you can't get virtual satisfaction is it?

I agree, DS will rock and beat out Skyrim for GotY. Can't wait...

Dark Souls looks amazing but it wont be easy to win RPGOTY against The Witcher 2 and Skyrim.

Demon's souls was good but not great. i owned the game and i sold it after i finished it. i would never play it again unlike other games. It was not so difficult as gamespot claims but instead sometimes it was cheap (some stupid bosses maneater and stupid spider among others). |
You had to grind for souls , herbs and stone fragments that serve as upgrades if you wanted to build a weapon. there was no story and plot , the little story and plot was moronic at best. Maiden astrea's drama with her protector knight.. yeah right.
i finished the damn game and i did not get a feeling. the only feeling was acomplishmnet but that was just because you had to play entire sections again and again. were i playing tetris at INSANE modei would get the same feeling. i cannot understand why people love it so much. it is critic's fault, they hyped this game very much. Once you memorised the levels (this happened soon enough) and learned the enemy patterns there was NO challenge. it was boooooring. seriously i tried to replay it but i simply could not. i knew where to go and what to expect.
The sad part is that the devs decide to make the game harder, the demo and the trailer i saw seemed to be harsh for most gamers. they should make the game more fresh, they should improve the clunky combat instead - wait with raised shield while evading and then attack from sideways- and give the game A FRICKING STORY.

well i'm always glad to see people get to play stuff they enjoy..
