DayZ early access sells over 172k copies in 24 hours

Yesterday, Spanel announced that the zombie survival MMO sold 88,000 copies in 12 hours and was seeing 200 new players every second.

The standalone alpha version of DayZ sold 172,500 copies during its first 24 hours, developer Bohemia Interactive CEO Maruk Spanel has announced on his website.

Basically early accesses on Steam sell as much as next gen consoles exclusives. LOL.

Highly innovative creative games do well on the pc. If this was Killzone Of Duty, I'm sure it would have flippity flopped.

I meant it's based off a mod. It's not like Starbound or Wasteland 2 coming out as an entirely new game from nothing.

I hope it does well post release... I never actually played the mod.

Seems it's barely changed from the mod. So it's not worth my money. They didn't even use Arma 3's engine build. Now the game looks like crap on that ugly old Arma 2 engine. The various buildings still look barren and mostly consist of four walls and maybe a table and a cabinet in the corner. Very drab and boring environment design. The gameplay mechanics, including the interface still look cumbersome.
