Still getting the game, they gave Mafia 2 4/10 and i loved that game. I never listen to review sites anyways, its all opinions of other people. All i know this game looks awesome and i wanted to get it since day 1 and i will.
I already have it preloaded on Steam, but even if I hadn't, I would still get it. I every review site gave it a 1/10, then I might worry... a lot... but everyone has different opinions on everything. Just because a few people give something an OK or meh review, doesn't mean I will not totally love it.
Could have told you this was another overhyped game, trying to cash in on the zombie craze. Play L4D2 and be happy.LazySloth718
Or not...played L4D2 and its an average game, this is more an RPG type affair and looks to be more fun from my perspective.
"Worst" review the game has received so far has the writer compelled enough by the game's peculiar nature to express cautious positivity regarding the experience despite having suffered an abundance of technical issues.
My purchase is further cemented.
"Thats it, you're fired!" :PWith all the advertisements of the game all over GameSpot, it will probably score higher here.

Also pretty weird to suggest an arcadey FPS on multiplayer maps to people interested in an open world-ish FPSRPG.
Stop being weird.
Too many here are overlooking the fact that it has like what, 4-5 reviews that have scored 8~!!!
Anyway I only read the last page and it seemed as if he was complaining quite a lot on the coop and I won't be co-oping in this game anyway so...!!!
They gave Mafia 2 a 4? Well then I better stay away from Dead Island. :lol:Still getting the game, they gave Mafia 2 4/10 and i loved that game. I actually expected a few scores in this range. Not surprising at all. Despite what flaws may be there, this is still a game that I very much want to play. I just think I will have a blast kicking back and surviving in a hub-based open world with zombies trying to kill me around every corner. The fact that it has RPG elements, lots of loot and such an interactive environment just seals the deal. Nothing fancy, just a fun and somewhat unique zombie game. Now, to decide if I want to buy instead of rent.
Zombies... Good enough reason for a low score if you ask me. Nothing worse than zombies as an excuse to use terrible and cheap AI.JohnF111
I wish someone would take a leaf out of Romero's book and make them fast with at least some brain capacity :P

"Some of you might play the game and wonder why I gave it a 9/10. You might look at the faults that I've outlined and declare "that list is worth more than a one point deduction!" However, look at it like this. I don't believe in a system where you have to deduct certain percentages of points per hang-up or fault you find in a game. For me it's the overall experience while playing through that determines the final score. Yes, there were faults that I discovered throughout my experience with the game. However, every game has faults, and I viewed this through the lens of a gamer. Did I enjoy this game? Absolutely. Did it scare the crap out of me at times? 100%. Was there a real feeling of survival horror (as opposed to just jumping-scares) that has been sadly lacking from other contemporary zombie games? You bet. So looking at the total package that was brought to the table here, this game is too fun to play and too unique an experience to be really nit-picky on the things that didn't go exactly as I'd rather them go. As I write these final thoughts, there is only one review out there on the web, and if the rest of the press agrees with that reviewer's thoughts, my review will likely be one of the higher-scoring ones out there. That's fine though; I truly stand behind this score. Hopefully you will pick this game up and experience one of the most engaging experiences I've had with my 360 in quite some time. This is a game that needs to be in a gamer's collection, so try to make it happen if you can, guys."

This may be TeamXbox, but I really like what the reviewer says. I can tell that he thinks like me, in that if a game provides an enjoyable experience, then technical issues and little niggling flaws can easily be ignored. Not everyone takes this stance, but it is pretty much how I judge games. If it is fun, it's fun... warts and all. That is the clear and distinct impression I am getting from this game.
