Dead Space 3 microtransaction prices revealed

They modeled this after FTP games, which push you to buy microtransactions because it's the only way they can make money. If you think this system will have no effect on the game or games to come you're delusional. Like I said it doesn't take a genius to see where this is headed, and their excuse for it blaming the iphone gamers is ridiculous.

Then don't buy the games that do that, it's simple. Like Zeviander said, vote with your wallet on the subject. Crying about it here, even if you did it all day for a year, won't change it one tiny iota. Affecting their sales on the other hand, will. 

My guess is the only reason they added MP to DS2 and 3 is so they could make money on the passes. LustForSoul

There will be no co-op for people planning to buy Dead Space 3 used...unles you buy an online pass. This kind of stuff doesn't bother me though because I don't buy used games. If I don't want to pay full price I wait for a price drop.

Well Dead Space and Mass Effect are the only two franchises I have bought games from that were published by EA. If you are going to start boycotting massive companies like EA/Capcom/Square Enix then prepare to miss out some really good games. I don't care enough to boycott...

The system doesn't bother because I won't use it. And I won't buy a game where paying microtrasanctions are necessary to enoy it fully...I don't think Dead Space 3 is one of those games.

Video games are a luxury. If a video game company decides to charge extra for a few nonessential items, they have every right to do so. It's not like EA is a company that denies a sick child health coverage or kicks a family out of their home.

If the microtransaction is only for SP, there's no need to freak out over it. Its up to the people themselves if they want to unlock things faster, EA isn't holding a gun to their heads.

Yeah, I hate it when a business tries to make money...

Some can't seem to grasp that while this is hobby/passion/artform to gamers it is business to "some" of the people producing the games...and nothing more. Unfortunately many of those that only care about the bottom line run the major players.

Yeah, I hate it when a business tries to make money...

The concern is the effect monetization of systems like these have on game design. I do not care for the idea, actually, I hate it. Suddenly game design is less about what'd make for a better game and more about the business model and manipulating people into throwing coins into a revenue stream. Let's just nip that in the bud before it has the chance to pollute more than necessary.McStrongfast

This latest fad has seen great success in the mobile and F2P area and has trained a large group of people that this is the way games are made. The difference being of course that these are $60 games they're trying to hook this revenue stream up to. They're essentially trying to convert us. Us willing to pay that much for a single game.

It is worrying that they're looking in that direction. Either it's greed they figure they can get away with, or it's them looking at their options and deciding that this game is a viable investment only if they do this. I hope it's greed. I don't want these games to go away or get turned into these part cynical, psychological manipulation tools.

Between this and Capcoms "DLC"s, the industry is going to a dark side online gamers will suffer.
