The most overrated imo is Burnout Paradise. It has the worst gameplay in a racing game i ever tryed. The only think you have to do is press the accelerating trigger :? I just dont get how can it be AAA and other great arcade racing games like the PGR series be AA...

heretrix

I have to seriously disagree with you on that. You are welcome to your opinion though, But there is a lot more to Burnout than just pressing the accelerate button. I'll admit it's more arcadey than PGR, but that makes it a hell of a lot more fun. And no other racer can compete with their DLC.

yeah...its just my opinion :P

I just dont like that burnout, need 4 speed, flatout, etc type of gameplay!!!

you're wrong . Deadspace is a cool, atmosphere driven adventure that keeps you at the edge of your seat the entire run . The graphics are MORE than decent, sound is magnificent, gameplay is cool and you actually have original weapons to slaughter enemies with . Shooting of their limbs never gets old . Yes, there's only the campaign, but the game isn't overrated . If you like survival horror Dead Space is a must own game , or at least a must rent game .

That's cool. You don't like the arcade racers. there is nothing wrong with that. I will say this: Burnout Paradise's multiplayer challenges are some of the most fun I've had playing online this gen. Getting up to 8 players together exploring the world and doing the challenges is awesome. I can't wait for the new island and the new car pack.

Oh wait, the TC didn't even finish Deadspace. He beat chapter 3 and stopped. LMFAO. He didn't experience half of the weapons or enemies. THIS IS EPIC FAILCloud_Insurance
Well, maybe there is a reason he didn't get past chapter 3. I got to about the same part. (Maybe a little farther.) Before I could not bring myself to keep playing. Sorry, but I REALLY don't see what he big deal is about Dead Space. IMO, it's a generic game wrapped in a generic rip-off.

This game is better than Fallout3, Gears 2, and Resistance 2. I can't see how they go the same score as Dead Space.

I don't know what planet your from or what the game was like on whatever system you played it on, but I played it on PS3 and it was really-really good. Nothing innovative? Health bar and stasis on his back, shooting limbs off, really cool weapons, great environment, and sound. Overrated you say, rated perfectly say the professionals and me.

i think gamespot gave dead space the right score. 9 sounds about right to me. but i think it's actually underappreciated. this game deserves more sales.

I don't know what people expect from games these days. It seems like everyone has this too high standard every game has to measure up to. I think the game is phenominal. It is challenging without being frustrating, the sound design is spectacular, the graphics are very good. The controls are great except for the asteroid blasting, and that dang arm that grabs and pulls you. The game is eerie at times. I hope they make a part 2, cause Dead Space rocks!mazdero

Your post reminds me of this video.

http://barefootmeg.multiply.com/video/item/56

Although it's not the same, it's a pretty good metaphor of people in general these days. We have such high expectations of video games, movies, music, etc and I think that's pretty shameful. We should instead be thankful for what we have and for the fact that we can even do these things with today's technology. We live in an amazing world and unfortunately it seems like spoiled, bratty and hard to please idiots are the majority rather than the minority in this world.

The first Gears of War did in fact have a story. True, Epic didn't provide a whole lot of detail but that's not the same thing as saying the story was nonexistent. Whether or not it's a cheap story is subjective at best and debatable.

id say that a magazine in my country described it greatly.... or the reviewer of the game... here on gs..."complete unexistance of story" or something like that... i didnt really liked that.. i like how they add the story in gears 2

So basically you're saying that your opinion is based on the opinion of a magazine article, not actual game experience.

I was very surprised with the game it was a fun single player game. Only thing is its not that long its only about 10 hours but it was a fun game to play and i dont care about co op or anything i would rather just play a single player game. I think this game is under rated i dont know any of my friends who have played it. And I loved re4 it was on of my fav games last gen. And i am getting 5 but i played he demo right away dead space and it just felt clunky but i will get used to it.

Saying that the game has no story is what leads me to beleive you've never played the game. Those are some extreme opinions with nothing to back them up. "bad combat"? Come on.

Gears of War 2 had a fun coop experience, an improved campaign (from the previous game), decent graphics, a filler story, and a really, really poor online. Dead Space had a great singleplayer experience, a good story (and backstory), it was graphically about the same, and offered small bits of replay value such as collectible items, higher difficulties, and upgradable weapons and armor. They're about the same, but too different to be comparable really.

Its pretty obvious this game is all about atmosphere; If you are one of those people who dont take their time(& instead run) through any horror type game, you would not realize this. If you did by some chance happen to notice this and still have the same opinion, then I think its safe to say that you just dont appreciate games that focus mainly on great atmosphere., which is fine. The lighting, space, writing on the wall, documents...every little detail that should have been noticed without me naming a shred of them should give off a vibe overall. Hell the gameplay, while simple, isnt something we've seen too much of either in many games. Plus the whole backstory is simple yet incredibly deep if you open your eyes. Definitely a game to be reckoned with this gen through all the actual games that really ARE overrated.

I entirely agree. I took my time and that's probably why I enjoyed it so much (spent a good 15 hours on my first playthrough). The atmosphere was easily the best I've seen on a console this generation. The only game that really can "beat" it in that category is STALKER:SoC and it's expansion.

I hated the idea that you couldn't get a shot off without taking fire. If the Locust's were that good of shots, they would've won the war long ago.

You must not have paid attention to the conversations between the different members of Delta squad throughout the campaign of the first game. That's where most of the plot details are given. Like I said, Epic did not provide a lot of detail but throughout the course of the game, they do explain who Marcus Fenix is (this is the guy you play as), that he was in prison. The instruction manual explains why and I believe it's mentioned several times in the game as well.

What you're fighting? The instruction manual explains that as well by describing the different enemies. There's more to the story than your describing but certainly not enough to call it a good story so.....yeah. It had a story. Bad story does not equal nonexistent story no matter what a critic says.

Bad combat? The enemies have to poke their head up as well so if they're already doing so AND they know where you're at, isn't it logical to assume they'll start shooting as soon as they see you because they'll be scoping your position? We do the same exact thing against them in any other shooter.

Generic weapons? What other type of guns (remember you're playing a shooter here) do you expect in a shooter? They're going to have a shotgun, sniper rifle, assault rifle, etc. At least they added the chainsaw to the assault rifle to add something to the gameplay.

Bad combat? yeah a machine gun turret shoots my allies i stand up and immediately the slow turning turret has changed direction and already shot me..wtf? id simply say its too automated how they know where i am when i change cover position when they take cover so they cant see me... or the fact that every time i stand up i take hit, hell i am to the enemy's cover and wait for him to stand up so i nail him but i take hit before i figure out that he stood up.. wtf? totally fake and un-tactical As for weapons id rather use an assault rifle than a chainsaw that you can use it as meel to defend yourself but you go to plan your meele attack before the enemy is dangerously close... or the shotgun which is barely sued in singpleplayer or a weird ass grenad that you got to twist it around to throw so you expose yopurself.. what kinda useless crap is this? just give me a normal frag grenade like any other shooter so i can throw it successfully behind cover without exposing myself. Or that sniper rifle in the future that has only one shot and it doesnt kill with one shot plus it misses becasue you take hit when you aim and the view jumps.... is that necessary? or the boomer grenade launcher with a HUGE clip but only one shot...wtf? pretty crap guns.. id rather use generic ones..so i can easilly say that quantum of solace owns the first gears of war...

I think that award goes to GTA4 or gears. Dead space is the best survival horror we have so far this gen and once RE5 comes it still will be. IM sorry, but how is addiong co-op to RE5 make it better. I hate how everyone this gen think every game needs co-op. RE5 will be a fine action shooter, but like I said as far as survival horror goes Dead space and even Siren are the better choice.

It was actually one of the most polished, well made games of 08. No, it was not scary, but it was still an excellent game overall. Sorry it did not do it for you. Personally, I cannot wait to see what Redwood can do with Dante's Inferno. They have proven they are extremely talented, now let's see what they can really do with this next project.

[QUOTE="Uptown"]I got dead space for xmas....I never even opened it. Im just gonna take it sealed without a receipt to walmart or best buy and swap it for street fighter IVLeePearce
Worst mistake you could make.

Im waiting for reviews on SF4 first, if it gets bad reviews i'll swap it for MLB 09 the show.....if SF4 gets 8.5+ then its a no brainer for me. Dead Space doesnt have much replayability.

Considering how similar Dead Space and RE5 are, I can't understand how you call one Survival Horror but not the other one.

I liked it, but I agree that it was a bit overrated. I'd give a solid 8/10.

In the first game you find out, through the course of playing the game, that Marcus was imprisoned for abandoning his squad to go rescue his father from the locust. As for who the locust are, we don't know yet... the gears don't really know either for that matter. Sometime after the pendulum wars is when the locust sink holes began to appear (don't remember if the exact time/date was ever specified). Epic should shed light on all questions as to who the locust are in the last game of the trilogy.

I'm going to have to disagree. I think it was an awesome game that delievered in really every way possible.

It was polished to hell and it was actually the first game in a while to give me some sense of dread. espeically when the regenerater hits. The gameplay was tight and focused. The graphics were nice, the sound was incredible, and there were enough little mini-game stuff to break it up and keep the pacing on track. Despite having to go back through certain areas it was still fun to do it.

Not to mention the UI was awesome, and the story was cool as well, especially if you watched the comics and downfall as well.

[QUOTE="mazdero"]I don't know what people expect from games these days. I hope they make a part 2, cause Dead Space rocks!Lance_Kalzas

We live in an amazing world and unfortunately it seems like spoiled, bratty and hard to please idiots are the majority rather than the minority in this world.

lol, that was awesome. Its all so true lol.

I liked it, it's AA worthy to be honest, lack of replay value is making me dock that extra A.

I kind of agree, except that I really enjoyed Dead Space, and Burnout Paradise happens to exist...
