Well, the rumor is that a 4070 will match 3090Ti in performance, so I'd say it's not worth it. At this point it only looks like a good deal because the original price was insane.

It's less than what I paid for my 3080Ti so Deal based on that.

But I'd wait until the new cards are at least announced.

Rumours are always bullshit, go for it. 4070 better than 3090 ti? Nope.

You missed out on a nice rig the last time you made a post like this. Now you're suffering.

And ask yourself this simple question: do you need a gpu like that right about now? To play what? Nothing is being released until the end of the year, and certainly nothing that requires this much power. Since there's nothing to use it on, its better to wait for the 4000 series, and by then, actual games will be coming out. This is what i am doing.

I mean it’s basically the same as I paid for my 3070ti in February, so deal I guess:)

There’s too many rumors from reputable sources saying the 4070 will better the 3090Ti. Those same sources are saying the 4000 series will be even more expensive than the 3000 series, and far more power hungry.

I just pulled the trigger on a founders 3070 from Best Buy. I can slum it until the 4080 launches and stock is plentiful and hype settles down.$499 for a GPU that will soon be blown out of the water is easier to swallow than $1200.

Also not sure why I’d need 90+ tflops to play these games… I’m all for overkill, I’ve sli’d Titans in the past. But 90 tflops vs these 9-12 tflop consoles seems like an awful lot of wasted overhead… Thanks consoles

You will need to wait 8 years before the game is released on pc for those filthy filthy hermits. By then, the 6000 series will be a thing.

Sure, I could play Halo Infinite on PC at native 2160p at 144fps with a 4090. Or I can save $600 and play at 1440p/60 maxed out with a 3070.

Im starting to talk myself into a 4090 now… Thanks…

Which doesn't even work within the context of your post.

90 tflops vs these 9-12 tflop consoles seems like an awful lot of wasted overhead

Because the next-gen cards NVIDIA cards sure as hell won't be 10x the performance of the consoles nor is the Series X 33% faster than the PS5 at running games. You saw yourself Cyberpunk running at like 20fps on a 3090 Ti. With RT and image reconstruction such as DLSS not being perfect (or available in every game), a 4090 will most certainly not be overkill.

It basically looks like this every time.

> You don't need that much power

> Games come out that bring top-tier GPU's to their knees

> LMAO $2000 GPU's can't even run these games at 60fps

Rinse and repeat.

I mean, PCMR acts like you can’t turn a few things down a little to gain TONS of fps. Dialing AA, shadow quality and raytracing from Ultra to High usually yields HUGE performance gains. The consoles are running a mix of all settings, often times things are low (or lower) and the equivalent PC parts usually end up being quite modest.

I get it, you spend a few grand on a rig, and you wanna crank everything up to the max. I‘ve been there and done that. Gaming on a 1660ti through the pandemic (Hooked a PC only gamer up with my 2080ti) has kinda changed my opinion on PC enthusiast gaming. As has the Steam Deck. But that’s a topic for another thread.

Of course. I ain't spending $1500 on a GPU alone to turn a few settings down. What is this? Console gaming?

Deal except that GPU is awful with it's huge transient spikes in power draw. Even my 3090 hits 400W sometimes.

Good deal for that specific card, but still a lot to pay for a GPU. Timing is not ideal either. However, pricing and availability will be an issue at launch for the 4000 series. Also, it may just be the 4090 launching at first which will be at a premium for sure. So, it may be a long wait to get that level of performance at a cheaper price in 2023.

Those GPUs don’t game well. I work with the Nvidia data center GPUs. I remember back when the C2075s came out, I may or may not have installed some games on a system running 4 of those cards.

Next time I swap out some a6000’s, maybe I’ll give them another go…

lol yeah. I remember trying to game on some beefy Quadros years back. Not great. Heard the 8000s aren't soooo bad in that respect, but still incredibly far from ideal.

It's the RTX 3070 all over again when it matches the RTX 2080 Ti scenario so hearing about the RTX 4070 (Ti) matching closer to 3090 Ti isn't a surprise. That 4070 better NOT be 8GB Vram cause we should be moving on from 8GB at this point.

On topic. There's no telling if the 4000 series will have a repeat when it was so hard to get those RTX 3000 series and I was fortunate enough to get myself 3070 Ti early this year and I don't see myself upgrading to 4000 series anytime soon. I would play it safe and grab that 3090 Ti as that's a reasonable price.

the a6000 and up are nice to vm gaming. but atm a ton of really odd ass driver lock outs or straight up lock out doc for drivers to.

craft computing ran into that issue(he a former system admin ).

amd not to far behide to in said issue.

but i don wonder what you could do vm wise with 512gb of vram with 4 of the high end amd gpu to for server market.

24% average performance boost over a 3080 at 4K which is pretty good. However, you are paying a premium for that extra VRAM and it being the recent flagship.

Considering how long it took me to get a 3080, I kind of wouldn't blame anyone for jumping on this. But, I would wait to see what the 4000s will bring, the power draw is a rumor right now, but it's worth seeing what the final specs and price are. All you can do is hope people are burned out on crypto explosions and see if availability will be there.

Of course you can take the risk and just buy the card, then sell it (hopefully for not too much of a loss, if any) and put the money toward the newer card when it releases.

High end segment is not where you are going to find a good bang for your buck. That is actually a decent price to performance ratio increase for a high end product. When you compare it to the 3080 vs. 3090 MSRP at launch... now that is terrible. More than twice the price for very minimal gains. Now you are getting even more performance and the price difference is less.

I am not sure what is your end goal here.

The price it is going at now is much better than before but the price decrease also affected the 3080 pricing.

I passed on the 3090 Ti because the performance gains are too low. Nothing you say is going to change that.

@Pedro: My point is the bang for your buck is a lot better now than what it was back then. Also, 24% gains are substantial regardless of price. Whether someone feels it is worth it, is up to them.

@Pedro: My point is the bang for your buck is a lot better now than what it was back then. Also, 24% gains are substantial regardless of price. Whether someone feels it is worth it, is up to them.

For you it is substantial, for me it isn't. Super simple.

Look at this deal. A water cooled rtx3090ti that was sold for just $1084cad. Now that is a god damn deal. If i saw this when it was posted five hours ago, i would've bought it.

@hardwenzen: That is a crazy deal. I am not a fan of the extra radiator to mount, but that is too good to pass up.

I have the silverstone sst-rv02b-sw case which has 3 bigass radiator fans at the bottom with a vertical flow, and i have no idea how i could even fit this gpu inside my case, but i still would've bought it. Way too good of a deal. Feels bad for having missed it.

@hardwenzen: I couldn't even mount it at the top of my case as I already have a 360 radiator in the front that would get in the way. Buying that GPU would make things interesting for sure. Would be an excuse to upgrade my case after all these years. Still rocking Fractal Design Define R5.

@hardwenzen: Nothing requires that power?

$1100 (or $2100 normal price) and it still cannot run anything recent at full 4K/120fps. Maybe games like Doom Eternal and Resident Evil 2/3, but that's pretty much it.

even generic games like AC Vahalla, FC6, Tomb Raider etc only get 80-90fps at 4K max.

should be getting 180-190 fps at 4K max settings.

@clockworkbanana: Pretty any game. Trying running 4K/120 or 1440p/240.
