So yesterday, I spent all day trying to figure out an issue with my dad's copy of GRAW2. From one match to the next, he went from perfectly fine to receiving an Invalid CD Key error. We had bought the game from Direct2Drive before they were bought out by Gamefly, and hadn't ever had a problem until now. I spent the whole day reading up on forums, uninstalling/reinstalling, I even considered looking up a key generator. In the end, I bit the bullet and bought a new copy of the game from bestbuy.com. Didn't bother downloading or anything, I just used the new CD key and everything was just honky dory. 5 hours and 8 dollars later. I've never had that kind of trouble from my 360. Just sayin'. P.S: for some reason, a factory built PC from 2011 can't run a game from 2007 smoothly. I was grossly misinformed as to the superiority of the PC as a gaming platform. Again, just sayin'.El_Zo1212o

I can't get my PC to run Deus Ex Invisible War. When I asked for help I was told my PC was smart. Can't argue with that logic.

The primary issue is that one day the CD key that allows me to play online works, and the next day it doesn't. There appears to be no way to resolve the issue, so I'm forced to hunt down a new digital copy of the game(not as easy as it sounds) just for the key. And yet, whenever I come 'round here, PC gamers always tell me that playing PC games is as simple and hassle-free as playing console games. As the great sage once said, "... that's a 'liar, liar, pants on fire' situation."

So doing a little google search, it appears that contacting Ubisoft regarding this issue requires proof of purchase. So, either you lied and pirated the game or someone else pirated the game and got ahold of your key.
The same thing could occur if you purchase a console game that requires registration for online from Gamespy. As they will open new games to verify contents and could just as easily take said keys. I doubt Ubisoft would be any more help in this situation either.
Then again, I've never had this problem on any system I own, tough luck on your part I guess.
Regardering your PS; I could purchase a new outta the box xbox in 2012, but I wouldn't expect it to run 360 games from 2006.

Hadnt thought to contact Ubisoft- I thought I'd get the new key from D2D, but since theyre defunct and Gamefly doesnt sell the game, I figured I was at a dead end. As far as the xbox/360 comment, I've grown up playing console games and so I understand the concept of console generations. I wouldn't have made that mistake even if they were still making Xboxes in '12.Agree with you points somewhat , I am mainly a pc gamer and have ps3 too. I buy all games on pc and exclusives only for ps3 because of the difference of the two is huge. I bought a ps3 by the saved money of games which I bought very cheaply through stores or steam sale etc. I bought Deus ex human revolution for just 7.5 $ . Can you say the same for consoles. No. I know pc hardware is more expensive but still you manage to save more money and it is more fun because of better graphics and you can also play pc games through xbox 360 controller plus pc games have a larger online base. I would suggest you to try steam for online purchases. You wont have a problem.neo_87Yeah, but I trade moderately better graphics(and, I suppose, insane deals on new games) for ease of use, and I do it gladly.
I have some friends which think the same as you , I respect that. My gf also prefers consoles for this very reason. She wants the exact same thing as you said. But if and when you ever change your mind just remember that pc gaming is now very easier relatively than it was before because of windows 7 and steam. Its not complicated as some people make it out to be but obviously the ease cannot be matched by consoles because they were built just for gaming.Yeah, but I trade moderately better graphics(and, I suppose, insane deals on new games) for ease of use, and I do it gladly.

That goes without saying. However my point was that you can't expect a lowend PC to play games on par with gaming PCs regardless of what year it was purchased the same as playing 360 games on the original xboxs. :p
The (admittedly short) list of games I've played on PC: Grand Theft Auto 3, Stubbs the Zombie, American McGee's Alice, The Punisher, Counter Strike, Diablo 2, City of Heroes+Villains, Ghost Recon, GRAW2, ARMA2. None of them has ever been as simple as "Install. Play." And when I did get them to work, they never ran as easily nor as smoothly as they did on consoles."I had problems running one game on PC, therefore all PC games are have tons of issues and are terrible, and console master race has perfect games that never have problems running ever."

If you have trouble with every single PC game (unlikely), then why continue and punish yourself and try to game on PC. It seems unlikely that a person who has trouble with every single game woulds persist on any platform.
You are also suggesting that you buy copies of games for both PC and console based on this 'they never ran as easily nor as smoothly as they did on consoles'.
Again seems unlikely, you are not very believable.

Both my PS3 and 360 died on me (absolutely true) therefor all console gaming sucks. *thread logic*
Seriously, I have never had an issue like this. The few issues I have had were fairly simple to fix. And it's not like there aren't issues with console games....the only difference is, you usually can't do anything about it.

Never said I bought all of them(though I did buy the Punisher on PC, PS2 and Xbox)- I played most of them at my brother's, and of course, some of them(City of Heroes/Villains, Diablo2, ARMA2) never made it to console, but you get my point. As far as your opening comment, my dad is worse at poking around with the damned things than I am(which is saying something), so I'm frequently drafted to perform what meager troubleshooting abilities I have when he gets stuck. GR, GRAW2 and ARMA2 are all his games. I havent even owned a desktop PC since, oh... 2008, -9? I had a laptop and when it gave up the ghost, I stuck with my telephone for webbrowsing and data storage.Yeah, I think the tc is computer illiterate. Just Saiyan. I won't argue that PC is more work but the only reasons you wouldn't get better performance are you don't know what you're doing or you computer is a PoS. Or both.

Stick with consoles, is does help to have at least basic knowledge to get the emost from PC gaming.
PC's give tons of problems, i only use it to go on the internet, that's what it does best. But gaming should be done on consoles.

Actual decent PC gaming is worth the effort, I love my PC like it's my kin. It's fun to play, I like the case, I love the quality and graphics and customization. Putting a lot into it means you get a lot out.
Basically it's like a car. If you know a lot about cars, buy a nice one, take the time and effort to keep it tuned, you get a lot out of it. If you just buy a stock car off the lot and don't think about it, well it's just a car then.
By the way in this analogy consoles are a bicycle.
PC gaming is the ultimate way to frustrate yourself, just move all gaming to consoles and just game than get a nervous breakdown

lol this from the guy claiming to be developing games on PC.
Actually having seen your game it makes a lot of sense that you have no clue about PCs :D
Coincidentally I bought Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 2 days ago for $2.50 from Steam. Do you know how complicated it was to play it? I'll take you through the steps, one by one;
1 - Buy game
2 - Press "install" button
3 - Press play button
That was it. So I have no idea how you've managed to mess this up. Either way, I suggest in future, you just buy your games from Steam.
As for GRAW2's system requirements;
Minimum:The minimum requirements for this game are the equivalent of a £50 PC. The recommended requirements are the equivalent of a PC worth around £100. So I have no idea what you managed to buy, but clearly you got conned. Understand that the recommended requirements are for a resolution far higher than either console used for this game and for settings far higher than either console used for this game.
So all I can conclude from this post is that you are either got conned and bought a terrible PC (I'd love you to post the specs of the one you bought) and on top of that you are grossly incompetent. If you are going to buy a PC DD game, buy it on Steam, you will never have to deal with entering a CD key on installation.
