Does anyone think a developer will make a game about this date? Wether it be on any console, I think it would make a great game.

If anyone has done any resaearch on this day, they know that the Mayan Calendar (Specifically, the Long Count) ends on this day and many people believe the "End of the world as we know it" will be on this day. What does everyone think about this idea?

If anything, I think this would make a very interesting story.

No. I mean what would it be about? How would you play it? Are you supposed to try to stop the end of the world or something?

There will be or already was a PC adventure game about it. The internet is going to explode that day. There will be too many porn suicide threads.

I forgot about that. Do we know why they believed that or why the calender ended on that date?

It's just the end of the galactic year I think. When I was in Mexico I was talking about it to some of the archaeologists and guides and they said there really isn't anything that supports the idea of the world ending on that date aside from some religious beliefs.

No, I mean 2012, the Mayan calendar was translated to the Gregorian calendar (The calendar we currently use) to end on December 21st 2012, I just thought, wether it be true or not, it would make a very interesting idea.

Most games have an end of the world idea to it, you run around and fight stuff to save the world, but no one has ever made a game about this specific, and apparently, confirmed by NASA, to be a relatively and extraordinary event to a video game.

It just so happens, that that specific date is the date that, the Earths magnetic poles reverse along with the suns and the "Grand Cross" with the Galactic Center and Galactic Equator occur.

I could think of a lot of intresting concepts off the top of my head, but ofcourse I dont got the time or resources to actually make anything reality. If I was able to though it definatly wouldnt be something as cliche as trying to stop the end of the world.

Apperantly, this is just speculation by many sources, they actually, PREDICTED there eradication, supposedly they had a leader that left to the sea and he said he would return, the Spanish conquistador leader had a resembelance to that of their former leader, allowed the Spaniards to conquer them becuae of the little resistance they gave because they assumed he was their leader of old.

Other things point to the Mayans actually PREDICTING their demise with their calendar.

No one knows where this calendar came from, only that the Mayans knew how the universe worked.

Kinda creepy if you ask me.

It would ship on 21/12 but when it hit retailers on the 22nd there would be no one alive to buy it and the zombie posters of SW would be like "lol massive sales flop, it wasn't even reviewed that's how bad it was"

Yeah didn't the Mayans predict a lot of stuff right? I thought it was all crap too until I learned they predicted a lot of stuff. Still think it's crap, but at least they have some credibility and something there might be behind it

Yeah, they didn't actually predict actual events (They may have, my knowledge of the Mayans is pretty limited compared to all the stuff thats out there), as far as I know, they predicted the exact TIMES of major events, and from I have read, they were spot on on those predictions of those time lines.

I'm not familiar with the myth, but yeah, I guess you could make a pretty epic game out of that. But just don't let it be another FPS.

hmm.. that sounds way more intresting than the December 21, 2012 idea. Someone should actually capitalize on that idea.

Most likely there will be a movie about it and then there will be a sorry excuse for a game based on the movie

Our world won't end anytime soon.

I mean come'on, its only a bunch of people who didn't think their calendar would be around for THAT long.

I used to be freaked out by 2012 but I as I became more educated, I began to see the fallacies that exist. Some people say 2012 will be a paradigm shift if you will and personally I'm more align with that thought. Maybe the next 9/11 (in terms of scope, not so much another terrorist/inside job attack [whatever you will :P])

Either way, would a game about it be cool? Well considering our magnetic poles are gunna reverse apparently (whatever the heck that means) I really don't see how a mere man can stop it.

The 2029 asteroid would make a pretty cool game idea but it would be a tad short don't you think?

This topic is interesting and would probably fit in General Games Discussion, but I don't see any relevance to SW.
