And yeah, I agree Starfield is boring to talk about since the actual game hasn't been released to the world yet.

Killer Instinct was rad on the SNES.

But I'm biased towards anything made by Rare.

For me very easy SF.

That's what started out on, so heavy bias to begin with. Not objective at all.

I vote Tekken just because that's the only one I'm good at.

In terms of impact on the fighting genre, I would say Street Fighter would be king, but I voted for my personal favorite fighting series: Smash Brothers.

Puns aside, my personal favorite is Soul Calibur. Last Blade is my favorite 2D one.

There is no decision. That was made a long time ago. It has always been and always will be Street Fighter.

Although Mortal Kombat sells well, I don't really see much competitive interest for it compared to the top 3 I just mentioned.

SSBU Sold about 32 million copies worldwide. It is extremely likely SF2 had more players than SSBU.

Tekken 3 is the GOAT of fighting games, nothing else comes close.

Soul Calibur (Dreamcast) probably gets second place IMO. then Tekken 2, Tekken Tag, Tekken 5, Tekken, Soul Calibur 3, Soul Calibur 2...

Tekken > Soul Calibur > Mortal Kombat > Street fighter > the other dweeb franchises not worth mentioning > Virtua Fighter

If we look at it in terms of revenue, SSBU grossed about $2 billion and SF2 grossed about $10 billion. SF2 grossed about five times more revenue than SSBU. SF2 is still one of the top 5 highest-grossing games to this day.

In terms of players, SF2 had about 25M active players in the US alone by 1994. The total US players in its lifetime could be double that, while the worldwide player base was likely in the hundreds of millions. It was a household name across the world in the '90s.
