Fanboy at its best....you do realize how serious and big the problem is right? its not just one 360, but in fact all 360 have a design flaw.

but keep covering those eyes and pretending its not real.

Haha yeah, and your not a fanboy.

I saw with my own eyes at the local Best Buy last night .... The Ring Of Death as we all call it. I am not pro Nintendo, or Pro Sony. I like games on all systems, but my money is going to the PS3 now after seeing that. I know those in store systems can stay on for hours at a time and over heat, but that was all I needed to see, not to trust buying one. The PS3 and Wii demos were all running fine by the way. JDW_games
i saw it at a target and told one of the dudes in the video game section. he told me it had been like that for a week and didnt know what it meant.

Your loss IMHO. All the newest systems have the new chipset and you are scared because you saw a 2 year old demo setup get RROD? That thing is on 16 hours a day and it is trapped in a small shield of plastic. Either way, YOUR LOSS.

The new chipsets didnt fix the problem. The problem is in the GPU not the CPU

Yes and no. The problem was related to the gpu but not because it was faulty or overheating. The problem was the X-clamp on the MoBo. It did not apply even pressure and caused the board around the gpu to warp. When the gpu would heat up the cold solder joints would loosen and the chip would separate from the MoBo. The new revision removes the faulty X-clamp in favor of the more secure four screw set up.

My friend had his go RROD twice so far. Its kept me from buying one too. But I really want RE5 since I'm a fan of the series. So I'll have a decision to make, but hopefully the 65nm 360s with the CPU and GPU will be standard by then. Other wise I may had to get a PS3 :o MS did it to themselves and are doing Sony a huge favor unless they get this problem fixed for good. A long warranty is nice, but never having to use it is even better.

wii don't have a history of breaking like the 360 does. if you heard on the news and friends and everywhere about the the wii breaking you can use your logic. and we don't know if the 360 was old do we.

no one wants to deal with a machine thats going to break on you. 350 is a lot money for something that will crap out on you. its not being scared its common sense. why anyone would buy faulty hardware is beyond me. it have the most games but what good is having great games with a pos system. the first time can be excused but 2nd or 3rd time i'd want my money back.

I have PS3, Wii, and 360, but I do favor the PS3 over the 360.

I just purchased the PS3 a week ago, and it's great so far.

To be fair though, I've seen so many retail store displays with the PS3 frozen, while the 360s I've seen have worked okay.

My beef with the 360 was with the hardware; it sounds like a vacuum, while the PS3 is very low noise. The noise is unbearable, and I do play in a bedroom. Also, my 360 started to scratch my games, without me having done anything to the system; it sits horizontal, and is never moved. And all these reports of broken 360s have made me decided to not even send in my 360 for repair. I bought an extended warranty from Micro Center, so when that kicks in I'll just get a gift card instead of another 360.

Also, about three weeks after I bought my Wii last November, the slot load mechanism stopped working, so a game was stuck in there. I had to send it in to Nintendo, but it was easy and they were quick to get me the system back.

So of the three systems, I've had hardware problems with two. The PS3 is still new, so who knows if it will break or not. But the noise level of the 360 is insane. I know that there are different drives, but it's not like I can choose which one I would receive. I did buy the 360 in part because I was anticipating Mass Effect, but I will have to skip it now.

But has the Wii ever overheated?

It gets quite warm when left in connect 24/7 mode for a while.

I just can't spend almost 400 bucks to watch something break. I spend hours on my games and dont need something that will over heat.

There are no official links. The chips are out, but they don't solve the problem. Not a single reputable website has said they fix the problem. Microsoft isn't even claiming the problem is fixed. Reviews on Amazon testify that people are still getting the RROD with the new chips. Yet X360 fanboys keep saying it's fixed. It's sad they have to lie to defend their system. All the new chips did is lower Microsofts production costs, they don't fix anything.

2008 might be a good year to think of buying a ps3, though. :p

When I see games I want to play on it I'll get it. I don't play games like GTA, FF, and MGS, so when people mention those it means nothing to me really. Show me the next game from Team Ico or a new Sly and now were talking.

Well you shouldn't have to wait too long. Spring will be here before you know it.

Spring? Should I be happy?
