Oh, I feel similarly. Refusing to accept that newer games can be better than old ones bugs me so much. Especially when the best someone in that group can come up with is "All games were more original back then", failing to note how many Mario and Battletoads clones the NES was riddled with, for example. Or that games are shorter than they used to be (since, you know, there wasn't a single NES or SNES game you could beat in one sitting. Ever. Of course not). Or that games used to be harder (Designed worse? Definitely. Harder? No)

That's strange. I feel the same way about people who can't accept an older game cuz it's older.

Both mentalities are undesirable. You play good games because they are good. I still play Super Mario World for SNES, and that game is 18 years old, because it's fun. But I have no problem trying out with an open mind a game that was released a month ago. Both mentalities are elitist and neither are good. There were good games back then, there are good games now, and there will be good games in the future.

I'm with you man. I respect the classics as much as all the other old timers, but it's foolish to think today's games are lightweights. Kind of like one of my uncles talking to me while I'm on my laptop: back then, typewriters and sewing machines were all the rage in technology. I'm not going to poke fun at either, but I sure as hell ain't ditching my baby for one of those :P. But hey, if the TC wants to be old school, he can prove it by trading his sweet ride for a horse and carriage ;).

Yes, Demon's Souls obliterates it, but only because it is a new vs old game, Demon's Crest is one of the very best in the SNES library, is hard as hell, had awesome graphics, great sound and did i alreay mention is hard as hell (God, the true Final Boss is harder than most games in this two last gens).

While kind of similar games in terms of difficulty, there isn't really anything worth to compare, IMO, your thread fails hard TC.
